Here are some images from the launch of our Deep Congo campaign in the DRC. Week 1 started in Lubumbashi where representatives from Full Options met with 45 local delegates. Great discussions were had surrounding local and national issues, centring around the themes of respect, dignity and justice. Volunteers shared their stories and hope for a better and fairer DRC. Next, in Lubumbashi Dr Kayembe had a masterclass with the volunteers, diving deeper into the themes of respect, dignity and justice. Volunteers had the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and there was the offer of future collaboration with Full Options.

Week 2 of the Deep Congo project was full of education and inspiration from the volunteers we have met.

In Kolwezi we had a full day meeting with volunteers, the majority of them human rights activists balancing full time jobs. The discussions centred around the workers situation in Kolwezi, particularly the ongoing problem with Chinese mining companies exploiting Congolese workers. The local government does not support workers rights and is letting their people down.

Despite this, our CEO Dr Deborah Kayembe was astonished by the determination of our volunteers who want to fight for their rights through championing values of respect, dignity and justice.

We will return again to Kolwezi in the future in order to enact a larger scale project, organising Full Options with a local team.
