Huge congratulations to who graduated this summer and has landed her first UX design post in Budapest. All of your year were a pleasure to teach and the team are delighted you’ve landed such a great job so soon. Best of luck and don’t hesitate to give us a shout if you have any questions.
Massive thanks to from (along with some insights from Balint) for giving up three hours of his afternoon to discuss next steps with our students then give feedback to the second years on a project they’d done for him.

A great start to the day today. Several of our students are doing the brief for the student design awards. After Alex got in touch with Clare at Dishoom they very kindly invited us into the Edinburgh branch where we got a fantastic breakfast, then Hanna gave us a hugely informative talk on SEVA and Dishoom values before looking at some of the student work. The food and service were fantastic and the talk was great. They even comped a copy of the Dishoom book for the college library. It was my first visit and I’ll be back for sure! @ Dishoom Edinburgh

So, we can let the cat out of the bag now. As a wee aside from our usual work the second year students did a brief for Matt at The product is a vitamin and nootropic supplement aimed at helping with the health and wellbeing of hospitality professionals and it launches today. Angus’ Design was selected for the front of the packaging and Vicky’s was selected for the back. Jakub’s Design was given serious consideration too and, when Matt gets to the stage where the bags are printed rather than just stickered then elements of his design may be incorporated too.

Finishing the formal part of a week in Berlin with a great session from from he gave a talk about design sprints and his background to the whole group. After that the first years headed off and he did a feedback session with the second year group who made undertaken a motion graphics brief for him. A great way to finish off a great week in Berlin. A huge thank you to at We’ll update some of the other stuff we’ve been up to over the week this weekend. The students now have some down time over the weekend before we fly home on Monday morning. @ OSZ KIM

A spot of reading. This is the selection we have included in the bursary pack for our NC feeder course this year. Hopefully it will mean students are well prepped when they start their HND. I’d have liked to include the design of everyday things as well but budget is always a constraint. We’re always interested to hear about other great books for aspiring UX/UI designers though so please add any suggestions in the comments.

Huge opportunity at more details in our story or theirs. Of course you’d likely have to be prepared for chasing you round with a camera, but that’s a small sacrifice to make for an opportunity with one of our favourite companies.

Well, that’s all the names In and sent to the travel company for the annual study visit to Berlin. This year we’re there from the 27th of January to the 2nd of February. Already hopefully got visits to and pencilled in along with hopefully another visit to dependent on ‘s calendar, as the previous visits have always been fantastic. Now the booking is formalised we can look at other stuff to add to the itinerary.
Spent today trying to put together a simple tutorial to demonstrate that combining simple movements can result in giving an impression of something more complex. In this instance a walking figure. This il literally comprised of a few objects with slight rotations parented to one with up and down movement. This was then precomposed to allow movement from left to right and a couple of backgrounds were moved in the opposite direction. Sound effects and a bit of background music completed the effect and we have a quick, reasonable impression of a figure walking.
