- Section Editors (Current Affairs; Arts & Culture; Creative Writing; History, philosophy & education) - 2 people per section
- Illustration coordinator
- Senior illustrator - 2 positions available
- Senior writer - 2 positions available

The pitches document for our newest issue ‘Repentence’ is available in the link in the bio now!

Submit your pitch (a one sentence article idea) relating to the theme of repentance or take on an editors’ pitch. If you are interested in making art for this issue, dm or email your contacts and we’ll send it to the illustration team.

The Rattlecap is looking for more illustrators both temporary and also full-time to illustrate for our new columns. If anyone is interested pls contact the rattlecap email: [email protected] with your name and phone number!

Do you want to be an editor for a radical leftwing student magazine? Apply to join The Rattlecap committee! We are electing a new arts & culture editor, creative writing editor and also columnists for this semester.

You will be working alongside the pre-existing editors to proofread and suggest improvements on writers articles as well as making pitches for article ideas. There are multiple places open for columnists - simply pitch your idea for a column at the link in bio.

The Rattlecap’s statement of solidarity with JPS:
The Rattlecap’s mission has always been to create a space for radical journalism within the University of Edinburgh. Our mission is to uplift the voices of those who are systemically silenced by the colonial, patriarchal and bigoted system that is rooted in our university, to allow for the emergence of a new space where all can speak up.

This is why we cannot stand idly by in inaction when we see our university refuse to acknowledge its complicity in genocide, notably through its refusal to divest, and silencing those who makes them confront the truth. As a radical publication, we stand for those who are marginalised and aim to dismantle the system: we can do nothing but celebrate EUJPS’s bravery and determination in their actions against this corrupt institution.

We condemn the hypocrisy of Balfour’s University, who is comfortable enough to platform transphobes and host the Israeli Ambassador this summer (in a blatant disregard of international law) but deems student protests threatening just because they challenge management’s lack of humanity. This university does nothing but replicate our diseased system of colonialism but will never understand that the people shall never stop fighting.

The Rattlecap stands with EUJPS, with Palestine, against the settler ethno-state of Israel and against this rotten and genocidal institution. We call for the university to divest now.
