WE’RE SO CLOSE — PLEASE HELP US BUILD OUR BASEBALL HOME

We applied for several grants to help fund our permanent backstop, but sadly we weren’t successful with all of them. Now we need the kind community around us to help raise the remaining funds.

Over the past few years, our volunteers, players and supporters have worked incredibly hard to build a proper home for baseball at Morgan Playing Fields.

Now we're close to one of our biggest improvements yet: a permanent baseball backstop.

The backstop will cost around £7,000.

It means safer games, better training and a proper home for baseball in Edinburgh — for our players, families and everyone who discovers baseball with us.

Days like this are exactly what the Edinburgh Rays are all about — bringing people together, enjoying baseball and having a bloody good time doing it.

And a special 😂👏 to our newcomers who literally just turned up today — welcome to the Rays! You came along to say hello and somehow ended up umpiring, getting thrown into the action and even getting some game time. That’s one hell of a first day at the club! 😂⚾️

City to get first dedicated baseball field as fundraiser launched for home ground Edinburgh Rays Baseball Club is hoping to raise £3,000 to complete its home ground at Morgan Playing Fields in Peffermill, with grants expected to cover more than half the cost of a permanent backstop.

⚾ THAT’S A WRAP — SNBL 2026

And just like that, our 2026 Scottish National Baseball League season is over.

A huge thank you to everyone who makes the SNBL happen — the league organisers, volunteers, scorers, grounds crews, and of course our umpires, who give up their time to keep the games moving and the competition going. It’s hugely appreciated by everyone at Edinburgh Rays.

While our SNBL campaign is now done, the baseball isn’t! We’ll keep the outdoor sessions going at Morgan Playing Fields every Sunday, 1–3pm, through to the end of October.

And there’s plenty happening at Morgan too. Our backstop construction and field surface works are moving forward, as we continue to build a proper home for baseball in Edinburgh. There’s still lots to do, but we’re incredibly excited about what’s taking shape. 🏗️⚾

We also want to wish all the best to the teams still battling it out in the Caledonia Cup playoffs. It’s not our year this time, but we’ll be back — and we’re already looking forward to the next season.

We’ll also have more news on indoor sessions coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates as we work out the plans for the winter. 👀⚾

For now, it’s time to enjoy a few pub sessions, a bit of baseball, and plenty of good company. 🍻⚾

And first up — our BBQ scrimmage on Sunday 20 September with our dear friends from Glasgow Sunflowers.
