Our friends at SYFR have set up this fundraiser to help generate funds for the amazing work and services provided by St Luke’s. Please donate if you can and share the link far and wide. A very special moment yesterday for three of our White Roses, first our youngest player Ryan Hamnett was very kindly invited by Combined Services Barbarians to start the game by pulling on their shirt and going head to head with the White Roses, then swapping shirts and giving a great account of himself for White Roses. Secondly, his brother Fynn Hamnett played for White Roses in his first ever game and got stuck in with some great tackles from the outset and never relented.
Finally, proud dad and White Roses regular John Hamnett had the proud pleasure of playing a game with his two boys, while daughter Chloe and Wife Claire and Fynne’s girlfriend Charlotte cheered on from the sidelines.
What a great occasion for the family and fantastic example of the family values and camaraderie of our rugby community.
WELL DONE FAMILY HAMNETT 💪🏉
A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising the festival, and to the Combined Services Barbarians for sharing the pitch with us and to Joe Brassfield for arranging the event.

🏉 White Roses Charity Rugby Team Match Report
Alan George Rugby Festival 2025
📍 Hosted by Sheffield Tigers RUFC
What a fantastic day of rugby at the Alan George Rugby Festival, hosted by Sheffield Tigers RUFC, as White Roses Charity Rugby Team took to the field against our friends from the Combined Services Barbarians.
In what proved to be a closely contested match from start to finish, both teams showcased everything that makes rugby such a special game. The scoreline was secondary to the spirit in which the game was played, with respect, sportsmanship, camaraderie and friendship evident throughout every minute on the pitch.
📸
A particular highlight of the day was seeing two White Roses players Ryan and Dale pull on the Combined Services Vets shirt, demonstrating the true rugby values that unite players beyond clubs, teams and backgrounds. It was a privilege to see players representing both sides and strengthening the bonds that make the rugby community so unique.
The game was played in the very best spirits of rugby, with both squads competing fiercely while maintaining the highest levels of mutual respect. There were plenty of smiles, hard-fought contests, and shared moments that perfectly reflected the purpose of the festival and the values of the game.
A huge thank you to our friends at Combined Services Rugby for a brilliant fixture and for their friendship and support. We would also like to thank Sheffield Tigers RUFC for hosting another excellent Alan George Rugby Festival and providing a fantastic setting for the day.
Congratulations to everyone involved, both on and off the field. Days like these remind us why rugby is more than just a game.
