The FORWARD Project is delighted to announce a visit to Derry City Cemetery on Friday 10th July! π₯
During our previous visit, we had the privilege of being guided by Martin and Seamus Breslin from Friends of Derry City Cemetery. They shared powerful insights into both Catholic and Protestant communities, as well as the experiences of those connected to the First and Second World Wars.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about the history, heritage, and people whose stories are preserved within the cemetery.
If you would like to join us on this visit, please sign up by clicking the link below or send us a private message for more information.π

π FACT CHECK
We examined a claim by DUP MLA Jonathan Buckley that people of Somali descent are more likely to commit crimes than other immigrant groups in the UK.
π To assess the claim, we reviewed the available data and consulted expert analysis. We found significant limitations in the statistics cited, meaning they cannot be used to support the conclusion being drawn.

Yesterday, the FORWARD project hosted an Understanding Migration conference, bringing together 102 attendees from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. π₯
Participants came from across different counties and included voices from the Protestant Unionist Loyalist and Catholic Nationalist Republican communities, as well as people from a variety of ethnic community backgrounds and civic organisations.
Throughout the day, we had speakers, panel discussions, workshops and conversations designed to create a safe space where people could listen, learn and engage respectfully with one another on the topic of migration.
The feedback was incredibly encouraging β everyone who attended said they left the event with a better understanding of migration by the end of the day π
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, participated and helped make the event such a positive and respectful space π€
