GirlsGetSET is an exciting UK scheme aimed at showing girls in years 9-13 what Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) are all about.

The scheme is designed as a platform from which GE can reach out to local schools and promote the career opportunities engineering provides. Through School visits, events, competitions and mentoring we aim to provide an insight into the engineering profession.

We’ve officially launched GirlsGetSET in Abu Dhabi! 🌟

Another country, another milestone β€” and another powerful step toward inspiring and empowering girls to pursue careers in STEM. πŸ’›πŸ’™

Our Baker Hughes volunteers kicked off the programme at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi with Session 1 of the 4-part series:

πŸ’‘ A masterclass on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS) and its critical role in reducing emissions. The girls came prepared, having completed pre-work on the greenhouse effect β€” and brought incredible energy, curiosity, and thoughtful questions.

It was an engaging, hands-on session delivered by inspiring volunteers who brought engineering to life and sparked real excitement about the possibilities of STEM careers.

We can’t wait to share more updates in the coming weeks as the girls continue their journey β€” and as GirlsGetSET expands its impact around the world. 🌍✨

Another amazing kick-off session with Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School β€” now in their second year running GirlsGetSET to inspire more girls to explore careers in STEM!

πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬ Science teacher Miss Christopher shared, β€œTo encourage more of our female students to enhance their science skills and consider careers in STEM, we kicked off this year’s programme with fifteen Year 9 students meeting leaders from Baker Hughes. The girls learned about pathways into STEM and then put their creativity to the test by designing bridges that could withstand heavy weights. Their teamwork was fantastic!”

πŸŽ‰ Huge thanks to our incredible volunteers for leading the session β€” what a brilliant start to the year!
