Caerphilly Hedgehog Rescue

Meet Kitty!

Kitty was admitted on 28/09, at 646g, after being found out in the daytime from the Trethomas area in Caerphilly.

On examination, Kitty was very dehydrated and lethargic. She looked worn out .. lots of loose skin and her ni***es were long so she had possibly recently had hoglets.

After screening her faeces, parasite burdens of Crenosoma (lungworm) and Capillaria (roundworm) were located. Treatment has started together with sub cutaneous fluids and pain relief.

Kitty is progressing well in care and is now 725g.

A belated 'Happy Birthday' to Rachel, one of our founders and lead carers! 🥳🎂🍾

We hope you had a relaxing day yesterday and were spoilt rotten!

A big thank you to:

Efa (was 186g now 228g) - is doing well after providing subcutaneous fluids and warmth. No parasites detected

Ffion (was 209g now 300g) - after initial treatment with fluids and heat she is progressing well with no sign of any parasites.

RELEASE: 25/09

Williams was admitted on 20/07 after being found out during the time in the CHR HQ garden at 175g.

He was dehydrated, dirty, had fleas and his feet were covered in slug slime. Fluke and lungworm were detected and treated.

Now all healthy (and huffy!), Williams has been released (at 924g) to one of our support gardens, close by, where he will be support fed.

Good luck Williams!

We enjoy getting out and about to talk to people about hedgehogs.

Last week we went to Pentyrch Rangers. We had a lovely evening. Donations of food and cash were provided which we are very grateful for. Thank you!
