RiverRidge Rethinking Resources

Throwback to The Open at the Royal Portrush Golf Club

While the action was taking place out on the course, RiverRidge was working behind the scenes supporting waste operations across the event.

Our teams helped service bins and keep collections moving throughout the site, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.

A brilliant event to have been involved with and a great example of the scale of operations our teams can support.

Organising an upcoming event? RiverRidge can support your waste requirements with bins, collections and reliable on-site servicing. Get in touch with our team to discuss what you need.

On the upper River Agivey, the banks were falling into the river, and taking the salmon's spawning grounds with them.

This year, Agivey Anglers Association set out to fix it using soft engineering: working with the river rather than against it.

🌿 Brash pinned with timber poles to protect the bank and grow it back naturally
🪨 New spawning gravel, sized for Atlantic salmon
🐟 Logs and brash to shelter young fish
🐑 Livestock fenced out so the banks can recover
🌳 Native trees going in this winter

"We're very, very grateful to RiverRidge, because we just couldn't have done anything like this without their support." (David McLaughlin, Chairman, Agivey Anglers Association)

Great to see the Crumlin River Restoration Project progressing and the work being done to improve spawning habitats and support local biodiversity.

Projects like this show the impact that collaboration between community groups, environmental organisations and funding partners can have on the ground.

Proud to see RiverRidge Rethinking Resources Environmental Fund supporting part of the project alongside the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland and the wider Nature Recovery Challenge Fund.

Credit to Crumlin & District Angling Association and Belfast Hills Partnership for the work being carried out. 🌱

Always happy to lend a hand 💙

It was great to be back supporting the team at NI Children’s Hospice recently and helping out with some of the work happening on site.

We’ve been fortunate to build a relationship with the hospice over time, and it’s always a pleasure for the RiverRidge team to get involved and support the incredible work they do for children and families across Northern Ireland.

A big thank you to everyone involved and to the NI Children’s Hospice team for having us back.

We’re proud to play our small part. 💙

The £20 Problem

That cheap waste collection might not be as cheap as it looks.

A quick Facebook ad. A van. £20 cash. Your rubbish disappears.

But where does it actually go?

In Northern Ireland, waste collectors need to be properly registered, and householders also have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to make sure their waste is being handed to someone authorised to take it.

This carousel breaks down the hidden risks behind cheap waste collection, the real cost of illegal dumping, and the simple checks you can make before handing your waste over.

Because waste doesn’t disappear when it leaves your driveway.
