Consistency beats intensity EVERY SINGLE TIME!! 👊
Maybe the heat is putting you off going to the gym. Maybe you’re thinking, I’ll leave it and start again Monday. The truth is, a ‘bad’ workout or session won’t compete with steady, repetitive effort 🏋️♂️
Show up!! It might not be as intense as you would like and it might be a bit shorter. But it’s better than doing nothing.

Taking that initial step to join gym is always scary and even more so when it’s group training.
❓Will I enjoy it?
❓Will other people judge me?
❓What if I can’t keep up?
The truth is, taking that first step through the doors is probably the biggest hurdle you will overcome. No one is watching, everyone is too busy focusing on themselves to even notice.
Even the fittest person in the group started where you are at one stage.

This week at Optimal, we’re focusing on celebrating the small wins with our members.
Celebrating small wins is one of the best ways to build motivation and sustainable habits.
Why does it matter:
1. Builds momentum for your progress and growth
2. builds self confidence by setting the realisation that we can do hard things
3. focus is on accomplishment rather than the long term goal which can be daunting.
4. sets the bar for consistency as it makes it easier to repeat the positive behaviours.
This week our members are celebrating;
1. Making the early session rather than hitting snooze button
2. Getting the workout in, even if it was shorter or not as intense as they would have liked.
3. Trying an exercise they would normally shy away from.
Small wins result in big achievements over time, it’s about building the blocks to the long term goal. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!

Massive congratulations to the Cliftonville U14s on completing the clean sweep this season! 🏆🏆🏆
It was a privilege to have the lads in once a week throughout the year, putting in the work in the gym alongside everything they were doing on the pitch.
Their success is no accident. The effort, commitment and attitude they’ve shown all season has been outstanding, and it’s brilliant to see that hard work paying off in such a big way.
A hugely talented squad with a fantastic work ethic. The future is very bright for this group of players.
Well done lads enjoy every minute of it! 👏🔴⚪

At Optimal we are always banging on to our members about not just focusing on the scales when the goal is fat loss. There’s more to progress than what it says on the scales.
Most of us will, at some stage on our fitness or fat loss journey, have worked hard all week in the gym and on our food choices, stepped on the scales and seen little or no change. It can be disheartening.
But, what if we told you body weight can fluctuate daily for many reasons; hydration levels, food intake, salt consumption, hormones, and even stress. Just because the number is bigger on the scales, doesn’t mean you’ve gained body fat.
So, forget about the scales and focus on:
✅ The fit of your clothes
✅ Progress photos
✅ Strength in the gym
✅ How your energy levels are
✅ Recovery levels
✅ Overall body confidence
Yes the scales are a tool but the real progress;
💪 becoming stronger
🥗 feeling healthier
🧱 building habits that are sustainable in the long term.
