Sam Gill - Flute Lessons Basingstoke

If you’ve ever wondered….

A flute has no reed, so what's actually vibrating? 🎶 Stay to the end for why you should always tune after warming up. It's your air. The jet flips in and out of the embouchure hole 262 times a second on middle C, and the tube decides which of those flips get to ring. Open a key and the tube gets shorter. Blow faster on the same fi*****ng and the tube jumps up its harmonics: a whole C major chord hiding in one fi*****ng. What should I explain next: vibrato, double tonguing, or circular breathing? And just like that, with a final flurry of digital exams, the 2025/26 Academic year is over! Thank you for all of my lovely gifts and I’m already looking forward to seeing you all in September ❤️🎶

Al fresco teaching!
A moment of joy in this hot weather and crazy week! ❤️
