Chris Rutterford - Artist

It has been noticed that the Alloway Tunnel Project is something of a hotspot for witches and warlocks … blame Tam O’shanter!
We wanted to add some balance, In the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum NTS burns cottage workshops I recently hosted the amazingly talented Joyce Hansen kindly painted us these beautiful contemplative angels, inspired by the work of Phoebe Traquair.

They’ve recently been hung watching over the Ayrshire market scene i painted with art students Ayrshire College back in 2023
We Particularly love the dialogue between the angels and Sherman the statuesque white horse, painted by Christie.

Scott Don from Redemption Tattoo Club came to the tunnel yesterday to help us hang new feature artwork in the vaults.
We hatched a plot at an initial session at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum NTS burns cottage workshops.

Scott alongside his business partner Kirstie and the other girls at the tattoo parlour in `Ayr - (Nadine and Adele) had great fun over the last few weeks painting this witches workshop.
It now hangs above the Tam O Shanter Chase scene and brings a whole new dimension of fun to this area of the tunnel.
Amazing work team! 🙌🙌🤩

Photos from the gorgeous new rambling Rose threshold in the Alloway Tunnel Project. Softens the whole entrance. Delighted how this is looking . woukd@be chuffed I think !!🌹🌹🌹

Love the scale of this new sunflower canopy in the ... it unites a@whole@chunk of the mural and changes the whole atmosphere at the far end of the tunnel🌻🌻🌻

Also varnished and poised to be hung on the Alloway Tunnel Project ceiling later this week- our glorious new sunflower and rambling rose canopies .
Built between two community workshops i hosted in Carrick Academy and Robert Burns Birthplace Museum NTS Burns Cottage these beauties will really bring the joy🌺🌺🌺🌻🌻🌻🌻

A kaleidoscope of creatures, all created for the ceiling vaults in the Alloway Tunnel Project during the 'Gilding the Lily' workshop I hosted with Magic World of Lubi 🧚🏼‍♀️✨ at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum NTS cottage Gallery a month ago!
They are now Varnished and due to be hung in the tunnel later in the month🥰
Can any of our artists spot what they made in the mix??
