Rizomagic – Cumbión Planetario is officially out on June 26th 🌎
A cosmic meeting point of cumbia, electronics and the natural world. Created during a residency at La Becque, Switzerland, Bogotá-based duo developed new tuning systems and built instruments from field recordings, weaving birdsongs and soundscapes directly into the music.
Rooted in Colombian traditions and propelled by futurist imagination, Cumbión Planetario opens up a world of rich textures, altered states and unheard possibilities.

Sensational Roots’ track ‘Calypso Zest’ is featured on the compilation 🎵
In the mid-1970s, the curfews had been lifted and political prisoners were released, but the echoes of Black Power were still felt in the music.
Calypso had moved past simply being the music of Carnival, it was reinvigorated with an urgent new desire for a deeper kind of storytelling that could still rock the dancefloor. Sensational Roots led by Pelham Goddard channelled those core rhythms of the people from Trinidad to the music they created both for live audiences and in studios.
By the 80s, Sensational Roots became Charlie’s Roots, a big-band sound on the Caribbean music scene that launched the career of one of the most prolific and beloved Kaisonians, David Michael Rudder.

Their new album ‘Cumbión Planetario’ is out worldwide and available on vinyl on 26th June.
Electronic music like you’ve never heard it before. The album was Born from a residency in La Becque, Switzerland, built on tuning systems and naturesque soundscapes.
Diego - “Nature, and especially birdsongs, guided us in finding melodies. On the album, you will find melodies that are birdsongs heard daily in La Becque, which was also a strong influence on composers such as Olivier Messiaen and of many cumbia composers as Andres Landero (Example: La Pava Congona).”
