No, we’re not making this up, we promise! According to French law, it is against the law to carry live snails on a high-speed train in France without them having their own tickets. In fact, any domesticated animal under 5kg must be a paying passenger.
In 2008, a Frenchman was actually fined when a ticket inspector caught him carrying the critters on board a TGV. Luckily, though, France’s state-owned rail company SNCF ended up waving the fine.

In our everyday life, it is highly crucial for us to express our emotions, especially when it comes to love and care.
Ideally, it is okay to use a common phrase for friends & family. But when you want to differentiate the importance of one person from the rest, it is better to use uncommon words & phrases for that.
So, when you are missing someone and want to show them they mean more to you than other people, instead of saying “Tu me manques,” you can use other phrases conveying the same message!

Many centuries ago when the first settlers in Paris were scrubbing their clothes on the muddy banks of the Seine, the city that would be founded on that spot was not referred to as Paris. Paris’s original name was Lutetia Parisiorum (called Lutèce in French) and the settlers there were Celts known as the “Parisii.” It is commonly believed that “Lutetia” comes from the Latin word lutum meaning “mud” or “swamp”. So the elegant, glittering city that we all know and love, most likely was first known as mud town of the Parisii.

Higher education in France is of excellent quality as a result of a long-term and consistent political objective. The government spends a lot of money on education and research every year. Education is the state’s largest budget component, accounting for more than 20% of the total budget.
This policy has allowed France to offer students one of the world’s greatest higher education systems, as well as one of the most accessible. French universities and Grandes Ecoles provide excellent education without charging high tuition and fees.

The French are huge baguette consumers and that’s not a stereotype
While the image of the typical French man walking down the street with a baguette under his arm is very stereotypical, it’s true that French people are crazy about baguettes.
They eat 6 billion baguettes every year, and there are over 32,000 bakeries in the country!
