Ten Years in the Making: Why We Built First Bourn & What Comes Next
A decade ago, the seed of First Bourn was planted with a simple belief: that travel could be more than an escape. It could be a catalyst. A way to train the body, quiet the mind, and connect with others who share the same pursuit of endurance and self-discovery.
That belief has never felt more relevant. Today’s travelers—especially endurance athletes—are redefining what it means to “go somewhere.” According to recent studies, more than 70% of global travelers now seek experiences over things, and nearly half of U.S. travelers say fitness and wellness shape their choice of destination. The industry has shifted: from passive sightseeing to immersive training, cultural connection, and purposeful reflection.
That’s why we created First Bourn: to bring endurance and wellness communities together in extraordinary destinations. Places where the long run doubles as a local tour, the recovery meal comes from a neighbor’s farm, and reflection happens against the backdrop of mountains, rivers, or vineyards.
We’ve learned that when people step into these environments, something powerful happens:
-They train harder and recover better.
-They connect more deeply—with themselves, with others, with nature.
-And they return home not just fitter, but more inspired, more resilient, more whole.
Now, ten years later, we’re preparing to scale that vision in new ways. A new brand partnership is on the horizon, one that will unlock destination training experiences at a level we’ve only imagined until now—making it easier for athletes, families, and communities to discover and engage with these transformative journeys.
Because endurance sport is not just about racing. It’s about community. It’s about storytelling. It’s about the moments of self-reflection that remind us why we push ourselves in the hashtag place.
We can’t wait to share what’s next. Craig (CROWIE) Alexander

The Unsung Heroes of Endurance Sports
This weekend in Nice, the World Championships reminded us what endurance is all about: athletes pushing limits, chasing finish lines, and writing comeback stories.
But behind every athlete is a coach — the mentor, motivator, and steady hand who makes the journey possible. They’re the lifeblood of endurance and wellness communities… yet so often, they’re unseen.
That’s why we’re building something different at First Bourn. A platform that puts coaches at the center — helping them feel connected, grow their businesses, and thrive alongside the athletes they serve.
Before the racing heated up, our team was on the ground in Nice filming a project to bring this vision to life. What stood out most wasn’t just the training or the scenery — it was the generosity of the community. From local friends who stepped in, to the simple gesture of a bike loaner that kept our shoot rolling. Moments like these are a reminder: endurance isn’t just built on training plans. It’s built on trust, kindness, and shared purpose.
Big announcements, new collaborations, and the full film are coming soon.

Crowie will be back on the East Coast of U.S. this summer. If you’re looking for an opportunity train in some cooler temps in the mountains this summer, this may be for you.
“It is with great excitement that I can announce that our Sansego Tri Club training camp at First Bourn in Virginia has been rescheduled to August 10-14 later this year.
The First Bourn property in Virginia is amazing. Located on the Blueridge Parkway in the beautiful Blueridge Mountains, it offers incredible training grounds right from the front door.
The terrain surrounding the Virginia property is definitely not as mountainous as the Mount Mitchell property. I would classify the riding more as undulating, but still a great place to train, build some fitness, meet other like-minded athletes and improve your overall triathlon knowledge.
Please visit the Sansego website camps page for more information and to reserve your place.
I hope to see you there! Until next time, take care!
Crowie”
