The photos passed verification, the sellerâs profile looked legitimate and by the time you realize youâve been scammed, the sellerâs account may already be gone.
â
Thatâs why itâs important to get into the habit of verifying photos, seller profiles and reviews before making a purchase.

I was scammed on Airbnb while booking a perfect place in Paris that cost âŹ700 for 3 nights and was supposed to be a two-bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, and a city view.
â
On the Airbnb listing, the user had beautiful photos, a sufficient number of positive reviews and even a fairly extensive host portfolio. The price wasnât exactly low either, but thatâs what can happen when you book accommodation at the last minuteâŠ
â
I booked the place, and the payment was charged 2 hours before check-in.
When I arrived, I saw a complete mismatch with the photos: a tiny room with a shower inside the bedroom, an unclean bed, hair on the sink, it hadnât even been cleaned after the previous guestsđ« The window view was just a courtyard facing neighboring apartments. The host stopped replying to me immediately!
â
I realized I had been scammedđ« I uploaded the photos, reviews and the host profile to the UncovAI detector and it turned out everything was AI-generated!!!!
â
Thatâs when I understood how easy it is to trust something that looks completely real.
â
Now I no longer rely only on photos, reviews, or messages, and I always double-check everything before paying or booking anything.
â
Itâs better to upload the review text, download the apartment photos and run them through a detector, and also check the listing link using the UncovAI detector to make sure your trip isnât ruined.
