Your purchase could turn into disappointment and a loss of money. What’s worse, you may not even be able to contact customer support for help. The photos passed verification, the seller’s profile looked legitimate and by the time you realize you’ve been scammed, the seller’s account may already be gone.
⠀
That’s why it’s important to get into the habit of verifying photos, seller profiles and reviews before making a purchase.

AI will undoubtedly transform every industry but it won’t remove the need for humans from every process.
⠀
Some things still require judgment, physical presence and human creativity.

I was scammed on Airbnb while booking a perfect place in Paris that cost €700 for 3 nights and was supposed to be a two-bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, and a city view.
⠀
On the Airbnb listing, the user had beautiful photos, a sufficient number of positive reviews and even a fairly extensive host portfolio. The price wasn’t exactly low either, but that’s what can happen when you book accommodation at the last minute

⠀
I booked the place, and the payment was charged 2 hours before check-in.
When I arrived, I saw a complete mismatch with the photos: a tiny room with a shower inside the bedroom, an unclean bed, hair on the sink, it hadn’t even been cleaned after the previous guestsđŸ˜« The window view was just a courtyard facing neighboring apartments. The host stopped replying to me immediately!
⠀
I realized I had been scammedđŸ«  I uploaded the photos, reviews and the host profile to the UncovAI detector and it turned out everything was AI-generated!!!!
⠀
That’s when I understood how easy it is to trust something that looks completely real.
⠀
Now I no longer rely only on photos, reviews, or messages, and I always double-check everything before paying or booking anything.
⠀
It’s better to upload the review text, download the apartment photos and run them through a detector, and also check the listing link using the UncovAI detector to make sure your trip isn’t ruined.
⠀
The link to the detector is in my bio, it’s free and they don’t store your data
