Associated International Laboratory - Response of Organisms and Populations to Environmental Stress

05/07/2022

After a lesson on how🧪 bioactive molecules from the 🌊 marine world can be of extraordinary use to humans, we announce the publication of a new video! This time, the techniques used in the laboratory are shown and explained. How are active compounds extracted from algae? How are they identified?

LIA ROPSE is taking part of the event Océan 21, a series of conferences, seminars and workshops that will take place in occasion of the World Ocean Day, from June 1st to 12th. This is a unique opportunity to raise awareness about the potential and threats of our oceans, involving not only adults but also kids. As we understand the importance and value of education, we are taking part to this event with three different workshops for the students of the school Saint Barthélémy. They will have the opportunity to play with us and to discover fluorescence, regeneration and symbiosis... We all know that science can be fun!

A number of events opened to the general public are also happening, swipe to find out the programme and to take part. See you there!

WHAT DOES LIA ROPSE STUDY AND HOW?

The LIA “ROPSE” agreement refers to the realization of a scientific programme. The implementation of this program is based on close collaboration between the teams involved at UCA and CSM, within their various departments. It applies to three areas, today we are going to discover the first one!

The Marine Biology axis focuses on the stress responses of marine organisms and their adaptation to global changes with a multi-scale approach from genes to populations. These themes are broken down into three parts:

- Studies of responses to environmental disturbances of direct anthropogenic origin (such as chemical pollution)

- Studies of processes of adaptation to the environment and to climate change

- Development of innovative methodologies (genetic engineering tools, mathematical
analysis tools, statistical models and artificial intelligence).

Hello everyone, LIA ROPSE is finally on Facebook… So welcome, and don’t forget to like our page to stay up to date with all our news. For now, let’s start with a quick presentation.
What does LIA ROPSE stand for? It is an Associated International Laboratory, focused on the “Response of organisms and populations to environmental stress”. Created in 2020, it is the result of the long collaboration between the Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) and the Centre Scientifique de Monaco (CSM), highlighting all the collaborative projects that take place between Nice and Monaco. The Agreement was signed by the President of the Université Côte d'Azur and the President of the Board of Directors of the CSM for a renewable period of 5 years.
