🆕 Sword Of The Stone

14/06/2026

Rappel : le fablab est ouvert de 14h à 18h, ce dimanche 14 juin ( ouverture habituelle).

Since Toasty's head is finally finished, I wanted to show you how I made the visor.

It is completely self Made. Vacuum formed and tinted.

-The master is 3D printed in PETG and sanded. The file is from @snowkatsoftwear
-Material for the visor: I used 2mm PETG. I also tested one with 3mm. That works great too.

-I built myself a vacuum box and a frame.
-Screw the PETG in the frame and put in the oven at 130°C for about 4 minutes. Use soft gloves to avoid scratches.
Then quickly pull it over the master and let it cool down.

-After removing the master, you can cut out the visors and sand the edges.

-Left and right you have to make 2 small holes in the edge. You won't see them later due to the frame of the Fursuit Head. Then wash off all the dust.

-Now put copper wire into the holes to hang the visors for tinting.

-For tinting I used a self heating WECK pot. The pot has to be so big that the visor dont touch the bottom.

-Heat the water to 80°C and dissolve 'iDye Poly Black'. For about 15l of water one pack.
Stir the paint and clean the surface of the water with a cloth.

-Let it cool to down to 60°C. Now the visor can be hung in the water.

-The visor must be removed every 5 minutes. Check the result, stir the water and check the temperature.

-If the temperature falls below 50°C, the water must
be reheated. To do this, take the visor out of the pot!
ltk
-When you are satisfied with the result (for me it was about 70 minutes) , rinse the visor with cold water and let dry.

Done :D
The visibility with the visors is super good.

I did this with the instructions from @proto_furo Feel free to look at his original instructions
