A last few favorite pictures from the Vélodyssée
Saint Jean de Luz ☀️
Saint Jean de Luz had this relaxed coastal vibe. Slowly entering the Basque culture and seeing the colorful houses. One of the prettier cities along the Vélodyssée while you cycle along the french coast.
The trip is almost coming to an end. We have 1 more stop to go and the last days we have been riding more hills..

Labenne-océan is one of those spots on the French Atlantic coast that feels untouched. Long sandy beaches with no one to be seen for kilometers on end. 🏖️
The coastline is part of the Landes region, with its huge pine forest and protected dunes. Even in summer there is so much area where it is just you and the ocean. 🌊
Probably because crowds are in the surrounding area like Hossegor and Biarritz. That makes Labenne- océan a quieter, natural place for a laid-back beach day.
Early morning at Dune du Pilat 🇫🇷
Hike up the Dune du Pilat 30min before sunrise to not be rushed and pick the spot you like. You probably will be one of the few since most people sleep in for some reason.
The dune is moving inland 1-5 meters every year due to the wind which means the campings are losing some ground. It is the highest dune in Europe (110M).
Beautiful spot to enjoy the sunrise and sunset, highly recommend it! Truly one of the highlights while riding the Vélodyssée 🚴♂️
The French coast has it al! 🇫🇷🥖
Arcachon is such a charming seaside town. It has 19th-century villas, calm beaches, pine forests and more. Perfect to relax and sightseeing after a day on the bike 🚲
In the evening we enjoyed the last sunlight on top of the 🏖️
Since the dune is so long and wide, there is always a private spot to find! Views of the Atlantic on one side and the pine forests on the other while we enjoy the last rays of light 🌅

Journey to Aït Benhaddou! 🚗
It is a iconic UNESCO world heritage site in Morocco.
About 30km located from Ouarzazate (we took a car and would also advice that).
🎟 Approx. 20 Dirham for entrance fee
🕞 Personally we feel like sunset is the best time to visit since the sunset hues and the amount of people
🎥 this kasbah was used in films like Gladiator, the Mummy and game of thrones
Really worth it if you are in Ouarzazate! We spend around 1,5 hour and most of that was being mesmerized by the views on the top! We skipped the souks since we saw enough of those already.

Batak architecture from lake Toba ✨
When you explore Samosir island in Lake Toba, one thing immediately catches your attention: the Batak architecture of the houses!
Most notable is the large steeply pitched saddle back roof which gives the house it’s distinctive look.
The living area is small and dark, light only enters through 4 small windows. Hence why the people spend most of their time outdoors and use the house largely for sleeping.
There are multiple places where you can visit them up close but we recommend this one: pengrajin ulos. It is generally less touristic than the others which makes it more comfortable to walk around.
