🗞️ Exciting News! Istanbul Tour Studio Featured in The New York Times 🌍

We are thrilled to announce that our travel agency, Istanbul Tour Studio, has been featured in The New York Times! 📰 The story, by Barry Yourgrau, highlights our contribution to research and field trips to Sanliurfa, an ancient city in southeast Turkey and Unesco World Heritage archaeological site Göbeklitepe (Potbelly Hill). We're immensely proud to have been part of this story. In the wake of the devastating earthquakes and floods in the region, it became even more crucial for us to put these areas back on the map to help to heal wounds by attracting more visitors. Thank you Barry Yourgrau!

The Şehzade Mosque was built between 1543 and 1548 during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. It is considered one of the finest examples of Ottoman architecture, designed by the renowned architect Mimar Sinan.

The mosque is named after Şehzade Mehmet, the eldest son of Sultan Suleiman and Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana). Unfortunately, Şehzade Mehmet passed away at a young age, and the mosque was constructed in his memory.

Şehzade Mosque showcases a harmonious blend of architectural elements, including a large dome, minarets, and intricate tile work. Its design served as a precursor to Mimar Sinan's later masterpiece, the Süleymaniye Mosque.

The interior of the mosque is adorned with exquisite Iznik tiles, intricate calligraphy, and decorative elements that reflect the opulence and artistic craftsmanship of the Ottoman Empire.

In 1985, the Şehzade Mosque, along with other historic areas in Istanbul, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "Historic Areas of Istanbul." This recognition highlights its cultural and historical significance.

The Şehzade Mosque is not only a testament to the architectural brilliance of Mimar Sinan but also a place where history, culture, and spirituality converge, making it a must-visit site for those exploring Istanbul's rich heritage.
