MESSAGE FROM THE PALIAMENT OF FIJI STANDING COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC AFFAIRS

"The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs wishes to inform all Credit Unions that the Committee will be conducting Public Consultations with members of all Unions on the Credit Union Bill as follows:
4th–5th September 2025 – Suva

15th–19th September 2025 – Northern to Western Division (details to be outlined below)

Monday, 15th September - Savusavu,

Tuesday 16th September - Labasa,

Wednesday, 17th September - morning in Sigatoka and
afternoon/evening session in Nadi, Lautoka

Thursday, 18th September in Ba and Tavua, and

Friday, 19th September in Rakiraki.

Please note that the specific venues are yet to be confirmed. However, we kindly request that you begin spreading the word across your members to prepare and ensure their participation in this important consultation, which will help shape the future of Credit Unions in Fiji.
Further details on confirmed venues will be communicated in due course."

Yesterday, our General Manager and her team made a historic submission to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on the proposed Credit Union Bill 2025.
We believe it is our duty to stand up and speak up for our members. At the heart of every credit union is our mission to serve people. Our members must be protected and safeguarded from rules and regulations meant for large, profit-driven institutions owned by the wealthy.

Credit unions exist to empower communities, and we will continue to ensure that voice is heard.
