Next up is our duo Jakob & Minna warming up for Sami Braman and Reed Stutz in Porvoo on Thursday the 4th of June and then on the following weekend three sets at The Rootsinpyhtää Bluegrass Festival: our duo in the afternoon on Saturday June the 6th and opening the evening concert the same evening with the full band. Then ending the festival with a duo set in the beatiful wooden church of Ruotsinpyhtää on Sunday, June the 7th!

Sami now teaches and performs across the U.S., primarily with The Onlies and Willie Watson (David Rawlings Machine, Old Crow Medicine Show). She and Willie just wrapped up a run opening up for Alison Krauss and Union Station on their Summer 2025 Arcadia tour. In previous years, Sami has appeared onstage alongside Watchhouse, Laurie Lewis, Bruce Molsky, Elvis Costello, Darol Anger, Critter Eldridge, Pharis & Jason Romero, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Altan. She has performed at festivals like MerleFest, Freshgrass, and Bristol Rhythm & Roots.

Reed Stutz is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who makes his home in Ringgold, Georgia. He draws heavily on traditional bluegrass from the 1940s and 50s, as well as old time fiddle music, with a particular knack for the mandolin style of Bill Monroe and those who followed in his footsteps. He plays mandolin, guitar, banjo, and fiddle and performs with numerous groups across the genres, blending a traditional approach with his personal style.

This was the ninth and final Acoustic Thursday’s with Jakob & Minna residency before the summer. And what a blast to have the amazing Jonathan Hull featuring on vocals and harmonica! But fear not, brave roots music lovers! We will be back! I am stoked to announce that the residency will continue on Thursday September the 3rd, and keep going on the first Thursday each month into December! 🥳 AND that’s not all! To round things off we are even more stoked to present to you in collaboration with .fi.sbmy and the Sami Braman & Reed Stutz duo (US), on Thursday June the 4th. We will be warming up for them with our Jakob & Minna duo and the tickets are already up for grabs. Link in bio & stories. Happy May day from Turku! Thank you John Scott’s Aurakatu! Food was good, beverages were cold and we enjoyed playing in Turku for the first time! Next up is the last Jakob & Minna duo residency before the summer break on Thursday the 7th of May with a very special guest, and next full bsnd gig in three weeks in Tampere at John Scott’s Ratina on Friday May 22nd.

Thank you John Scott’s Arkadia! First full bsnd gig with Minna Kare now as a full time member! We had a blast and awesome to have her on vocals, guitar and even washboard! 🤩 Next up is John Scott’s Aurakatu in Turku on the 1st of May, Showtime 10pm, so if you are in Turku come out and join us for an evening of harmonies and music!

Residency no 8. at is done and gone, except that it still lingers in my mind, and perhaps in some of your minds, some of you who came out to enjoy a full evening of acoustic guitar music and two voice harmonies! Laughs were shared, drinks were enjoyed and we had yet another magical moment in a full room framed by the old bricks and ancient wooden beams of Porvoon Paahtimo Thank you so much for coming out in such numbers, we love you! ❤️ There is one last Acoustic Thursday’s with Jakob & Minna - residency before it goes on a break for the summer on May the 7th, and we have a very special surprise in store for that, so please mark your calendars! ☺️✨ But before that, next up is a show with the full Jake and Rambling Blade band in Helsinki at John Scott’s Arkadia on April the 24th!

Throwback to the summit in Prague on March 6th - 8th. A ton of brilliant showcases, interesting discussions and seminars, luthiers, microphones, banjos, guitars and mandolins. And of course, endless jams in the lobbies and actually in all corners of the hotel! There’s no genre as quite as inclusive and welcoming as bluegrass! A huge thanks to the new board of EBMA, you did a fantastic job and made everyone feel so at home! 😍🙏🏻✨

Thanks a million Suomenlinna and Linna Bar for having us! And to the best audience ever for coming out, either taking the ferry or taking a stroll to your local livingroom, And for singing your hearts out with us in the encore! 😍 We felt truly welcomed! and I started playing Gillian Welch covers together with in my kitchen during the pandemic back in 2020 and now we have the great honor of featuring him at our monthly residency at ! Jukka is perhaps most known for his work with but when with us, I’ve never spotted an electric bass in his hands, he never fails to bring the double bass, regardless of the size of the instrument, the weather conditions or technical issues with exploding scrolls or collapsing bridges! So do come out and experince for the first time on stage, the three voice harmonies of Jukka, Minna Kare and yours truly! I got the goose bumps at rehearsal, come see if you get them too! 😅 Next Thursday on the 5th of March. Showtime 8pm! ✨ upstairs and don’t forget to bring a friend. Free entry!
