Cherry amber burial beads from 5,700 years ago, Funnelbeaker culture, made of Conifer self healing tree bark resins since 90 million years ago. Neolithics animistically compressed cyclical time by firing resin in crucibles or sand pits. In the conifer marshes the deceased were garlanded with the trees creation and passing there. Their blood projected into permanent globules alongside vessels. Poeticised as tears of the sea and sun: “gemstones dropped
in the peat floe
like the bearings of history”, Seamus Heaney, Wintering Out.
Today, Conifers are celebrated as Christmas trees!

Tapirs’ closest relatives are Rhinos. Their noses scent and grab for vegetarian foraging - or for snorkling swims! There is a world Tapir day for these unassuming and endangered forest and, here, Amazon jungle dwellers. Its thick coat protects from predators. This tapir looks like the recently identified Kabomani tapir, the first such, of five, species, since 1865.
