International Youth Day 2026

AfriYAN Ethiopia , in partnership with UNFPA Ethiopia, TaYA and the Sidama Regional Youth and Adolescent Health Council, proudly celebrated International Youth Day 2026 in Hawassa City under the theme “Diverse Youth Knowledge for a Shared Vision.”

The two-day celebration brought young people together through tree planting and environmental activities, blood donation, a cultural and artistic evening, and a meaningful panel discussion.

The forum highlighted the importance of youth well-being, meaningful participation, and collective action, calling on government institutions, youth organizations, civil society, and other stakeholders to work together to create an enabling environment where young people can thrive and contribute to positive change.

The celebration also reaffirmed that young people are not only citizens of the future, but citizens and agents of change today. 🙌

Happy World Humanitarian Day

Humanitarian action is about more than immediate support : it’s about creating opportunities for people to rebuild with dignity.

Through its work with IDP youth, TaYA is connecting skills training, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and employment pathways to support young people toward self-reliance and dignified livelihoods.

This World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate resilience, opportunity, and the power of empowering communities to build their own futures.

From learning to leading the conversation.

What does it mean to be part of a space where you can learn, ask questions, and openly engage with a sensitive topic?

For our 25 peer educators, the orientation on Safe Abortion Care (SAC) and Self-Managed Abortion (SMA) was more than a training, it was an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge, build their confidence, and prepare them to facilitate informed and stigma-sensitive conversations within their communities.

Hear directly from the participants as they share their experiences and reflections from the orientation, alongside moments from the training sessions, discussions, and presentations.

When knowledge grows, conversations change. When conversations change, communities can change too.

Monday Motivation

"Every new idea and initiative meets with resistance. We have to find the courage to take risks, even to fail, if the goal is worthwhile." — Kofi Annan

As we begin a new week, let this be a reminder that meaningful change often starts with an idea that challenges the way things have always been done.

Don't be afraid to speak up, try something new, or take the first step. Great ideas need courage, persistence, and action to become reality.

Wishing you a purposeful and inspiring week ahead!

Building the knowledge behind the conversation.

On 15 August 2026, TaYA, in partnership with the St. Paul Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights (SPIRHR), conducted a one-day orientation on Safe Abortion Care (SAC) and Self-Managed Abortion (SMA) for 25 peer educators.

The orientation strengthened participants’ technical understanding while equipping them with communication skills and stigma-sensitive approaches to facilitate accurate, respectful, and informed conversations within their communities.

As trusted peers, these young people can play an important role in creating spaces where adolescents and youth can ask questions, challenge misconceptions, and seek reliable information about their health without fear of judgment.

Informed peer educators ➡️ Safer conversations ➡️ More informed communities.

From learning to advocating and leading.

This International Youth Day, we celebrate young people who are turning knowledge, confidence, and courage into meaningful change in their communities.

Kerima Ali, a Peer Educator under the RBA Project, gained the knowledge and leadership skills to speak openly about GBV prevention, gender equality, and available support services.

Through her role, she now leads peer discussions, shares information, and encourages young people to speak up, seek support, and make informed decisions.

When young people are empowered, they become changemakers.

Happy International Youth Day! 🌍✨
