Non-State Actors Assembly at ACS2
On 6th September 2025, the Non-State Actors Assembly convened at the Adwa Memorial Museum during the Pre-Summit of the Africa Climate Summit 2 (ACS2) under the theme “Beyond the Summit – Making NSAs’ Perspectives Count.”
Mr. Yonas Gebru, Chair of the Non-State Actors and Inclusivity Committee, emphasized that African non-state actors must stand at the center of climate action, pushing forward priorities on adaptation, climate finance, and loss and damage, while ensuring women and youth are fully included in solutions.
Dr. Mithika Mwenda, Executive Director of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), commended the Assembly for creating space where civil society, communities, and advocates can shape the African climate agenda ahead of ACS2, stressing that inclusive dialogue is essential for meaningful progress.
With diverse stakeholders from across the continent, the Assembly demonstrated that non-state actors are not peripheral but central to Africa’s climate leadership and resilience.

The Cohort of the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ) has officially opened at Addis Ababa University. This year’s program, co-coordinated by CCCE, has brought together participants from across the globe, with many joining virtually.
The High-Level Symposium was graced by Her Excellency Dr. Fitsum Assefa ,Minister for Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning, who emphasized inclusive climate action and regional collaboration.
Dr. Mithika Mwenda reminded participants that climate change is part of a global polycrisis — interlinked with inequalities, economic shocks, pandemics, and wars. For Africa, the stakes are critical, with climate change already costing significant economic impact annually.
His message to youth was clear:
“The system is broken, but justice is non-negotiable.”
At CCCE, we are proud to help on co coordinating this transformative platform, empowering young leaders with skills in climate diplomacy, finance, and justice to co-create a more equitable future.
