Once again our friends Minna and Pasi are visiting from Finland. They claim to be on holiday but they are actually here to help in the refuge...I´m sure this is the truth.
Of course they came with some gifts for the dogs. While in Spain Minna often writes about life with the dogs on her associations page. You can follow along here: toinen mahdollisuus ry.

Una vez más, nuestros amigos Minna y Pasi nos visitan desde Finlandia. Dicen estar de vacaciones, pero en realidad han venido para ayudar en el refugio... Estoy segura de que es así.

Volveremos a tener un puesto en este mercado musical organizado por The Under Dog. Venderemos artículos nuevos y seminuevos para perros. ¡Ven y encuentra alguna ganga!

Recently we have received some great donations from our friends at Tierhilfe Saarland e.V in Germany. Several pallets were send in the last months - including huge amounts of natural treats - our dogs are loving these.
Also lots of other fun and useful items - not everything is pictured. Anything we can not use in the refuge goes to our second shops to help raise funds for vet bills, rent, electric etc etc
Next month we we also be at The Under Dog´s music market - selling new and lightly used doggy items.

Recientemente hemos recibido unas donaciones fantásticas de nuestros amigos de Tierhilfe Saarland e.V., en Alemania. En los últimos meses nos han enviado varios palés —incluyendo grandes cantidades de premios naturales— que a nuestros perros les encantan.
También hemos recibido muchos otros artículos útiles y divertidos; no todo aparece en las fotos. Aquello que no podemos utilizar en el refugio se destina a nuestras tiendas solidarias para ayudar a recaudar fondos para gastos veterinarios, alquiler, electricidad, etc.
El mes que viene también estaremos en el mercadillo musical «The Under Dog» vendiendo artículos para perros, tanto nuevos como de segunda mano en buen estado.

Como siempre, muchísimas gracias a todo el equipo de Tierhilfe Saarland y a todos sus maravillosos colaboradores.

For good hygiene the dogs bowls are washed after every use. At the moment we are in need of washing up liquid. If anyone would like to buy a bottle or two next time they are shopping, it would be apricated. Thanks

Searching for a new home. Now approx 4 months old. one male, one female, siblings. These kittens were originally trapped during a sterilization project. Although they were born in a feral colony they easily became tame and it was a shame to put them back on the streets. So they have been living in a foster home....
They are fun, playful kittens, vaccinated, sterizlied and tested negative for FIV/FeLV

Buscan un nuevo hogar. Tienen aproximadamente 4 meses de edad; son hermanos (un macho y una hembra). Estos gatitos fueron rescatados originalmente durante un proyecto de esterilización. Aunque nacieron en una colonia de gatos ferales, se domesticaron fácilmente y habría sido una lástima devolverlos a la calle, por lo que han estado viviendo en un hogar de acogida.....
Son gatitos divertidos y juguetones; están vacunados, esterilizados y han dado negativo en las pruebas de FIV y FeLV.

Yesterday, a box containing three newborn kittens was dumped outside our second hand shop in Torrox Pueblo. When the volunteers discovered them, one had already died. A quick assessment at the refuge showed the others were also in bad condition. We always keep replacement milk for emergencies. However, I didn´t have a sond for feeding by tube. Debra a volunteer from the shop took them over to Clinica Vet San Fernando in Nerja. Sadly within a couple of hours both had died despite the efforts to warm and later feed. Thank you for the kindness shown by the staff at the vet clinic. Sadly they just could not survive.
I didn't take photos everyone was distressed enough.
Abandonment is disgusting. If you want/need help ask!! - we always help, when we can. However, We can not always do the trapping for you - volunteers are very limited and have other commitments.
We have been offering free or low cost sterilization of street cats in the Torrox area for years. This year alone we have sterilized 125 cats (not including Sept).....
And provided essential vet care for many many more, preventing a lot of suffering.
This is funded by us Association TAIL Torrox.
Where is the mother of these kittens? Why not ask for help?...Why choose abandonment?

Ayer, alguien abandonó una caja con tres gatitos recién nacidos frente a nuestra tienda de segunda mano en Torrox Pueblo. Cuando los voluntarios los encontraron, uno ya había mu**to. Una evaluación rápida en el refugio reveló que los otros también estaban en mal estado. Siempre tenemos leche de sustitución para emergencias, pero no disponía de una sonda para alimentarlos. Debra, una voluntaria de la tienda, los llevó a la Clínica Veterinaria San Fernando en Nerja. Lamentablemente, en cuestión de un par de horas ambos habían fallecido, a pesar de los esfuerzos por calentarlos y alimentarlos después. Agradecemos la amabilidad del personal de la clínica veterinaria. Por desgracia, simplemente no pudieron sobrevivir.
No tomé fotos; todos estaban ya bastante afectados.
El abandono es algo repugnante. Si quieres o necesitas ayuda, ¡pídela! Siempre ayudamos cuando podemos. No siempre podemos encargarnos de capturarlos por ti; contamos con pocos voluntarios y tienen otras obligaciones.
Llevamos años ofreciendo servicios de esterilización gratuita o a bajo coste para gatos callejeros en la zona de Torrox. Solo este año hemos esterilizado 125 gatos (sin contar septiembre)...
Y hemos proporcionado atención veterinaria esencial a muchos más, evitando así mucho sufrimiento.
Todo esto está financiado por nuestra asociación, TAIL Torrox.
¿Dónde está la madre de estos gatitos? ¿Por qué no pedir ayuda?... ¿Por qué optar por el abandono?
