🌊 More than 100 people stopped by our "MarineSABRES in Fairs" stand at the European Researchers' Night in Lecce. Thank you for your curiosity and your questions!

🎮 Some of you came to play our Serious Game, which puts you in front of the trade-offs between human activities, marine ecosystems and our own well-being. Others simply stopped in front of our screen, caught by the images of "Tides of Balance", the documentary directed by Fabrizio Lecce, and stayed to ask about the project.

📮 The postcards got a lot of attention too. We made three, one for each Marine SABRES Demonstration Area featured in the film: the Arctic Northeast Atlantic, the Tuscan Archipelago and Macaronesia.

🔬The analysis of wetlands restoration interventions carried out in by researchers aimed to understand the role of hydrological dynamics in shaping GHG emissions across different wetlands types: the result underlined that wetland restoration cannot rely on uniform approaches, but must be tailored to site-specific ecohydrological conditions.

🗺Site-tailored wetland restoration actions, supported by science-based monitoring, have the potential to deliver actual climate mitigation!

🌾 15,000 hectares of fens in Northeastern Germany have been subject to drainage-based land use throughout the years, leading to significant greenhouse gas emissions, peat subsidence, and biodiversity loss.

🤝 Since 2019, a participatory process bringing together farmers, landowners, municipalities, water boards, and conservation authorities has strengthened dialogue and enabled a shared understanding of the importance of restoration initiatives.

💪 Overtime, this process has even reached a local retail company, that committed to using packaging materials containing up to 20% paludiculture biomass by 2027. A crucial example of how small steps can spark real change!

🧑‍🌾 Landowners in are participating as volunteers in a programme that combines restoration with research, communication, and local cooperation, through a comprehensive package of measures (especially spatial prioritisation)!

🪷 It's the "Helmi Habitats Programme (2021-2030)", launched by the Ministry of the Environment of Finland.

🎋🦦 Peatlands cover around 30% of Finland's lands, and the programme will issue public investments to protect 59,300 hectares by 2030.

👉 Finland is one of the three case studies examined in the joint White Paper "Prioritising Wetland Conservation and Restoration in Europe | United voices for more policy impact" by the following wetlands restoration projects:

👉 Understanding the impact of our decisions starts with knowledge of the environment's constituent elements and systems, and how human activities affect each of them.
As Mike Elliott, Director and Emeritus Professor at IECS, highlights at the beginning of the video, we need to bring together perspectives from both the natural and social sciences.

The Tomography for Scientific Advancement society represents the International Tomography community, providing a platform to promote, advance and support innovation, share knowledge and encourage collaborations.

🇬🇷 We just attended the 18th annual symposium of the society at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), engaging with fellow researchers, microtomography enthusiasts, and industry representatives!

🪼 This year's scientific programme included tomography applications in biological hard and soft tissue imaging.
Niki Keklikoglou from LifewatchGreece, presented the abstract “Advancing marine research through 3D imaging at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research”.
