Breaking bread 🥖🍞

Final post from the Madrid show.

Had to include bread in the install — it’s the core of what we do. At .cic We bake real bread to earn the dough to fund art.

It’s about making and shaping — not just dough, but ideas, systems and space from the ground up.

Thanks to for supporting me to attend these last two residencies in San Sebastián and Madrid, and backing artists to experiment and grow ~ legends! 👏 ❤️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A large riso-printed manifesto celebrating five years of creative resistance by .cic a sourdough bakery and art project in Ayr, Scotland, calls us to reflect on the triumphs and struggles of social enterprises in food and art. The posters and zines are a call to action and trusting ourselves, as well as a celebration of collective resilience, neurodiversity, sustainable craft and a mycelial spirit of care, inviting us to imagine radical futures through food and community.

A personal reflective manifesto marking 5 years since starting Narture with my artist dad and many others. I’ve spent a lot of time making space for others to be creative — this was a chance to do that for myself, and turn the daily chaos of running a social enterprise into something visual.

Great to be making new work again and connecting with such an inspiring international cohort through . So many ideas beginning to take shape of how we can continue to collaborate… 🫧

Defo the most tasty, fun & interactive exhibition I’ve been at. 🎨 🍴

A start of something new — playing with the frustrating text/image grid pattern I used to use for .cic socials, trying to turn admin into art. Setting myself a brief, working with limits, and finally getting back to drawing + illustration again.

Packed trip: visits to independent galleries, a colour show exploring food as natural dyes, olive oil print experiments, most boujee matcha gaff , a trip to .galeria (food + art heaven), sourdough bakery research for our bakery expansion (!), and the most delicious Korean lunches all week cooked for us by 🍜💚

Madrid residency + exhibition 🇪🇸🎨🍴

Started with a beautiful dinner by — exploring the history of Madrid through local ingredients. 🍽️
Followed by a natural wine tasting + training with vicky from Fondo wine school-delish! 🍷🫧🍇

Visited Catedral de San Justo — a wild DIY project, 60 years in the making, built from scrap: ham tins, car springs, and bricks no one wanted. Wonky & bootleg brick up-cycling at its best. 🔨♻️

Lunch at by .theatre — fresh Palestinian food + time to hear about their powerful work 🇵🇸 🍉

And a joy to hang with for churros at the oldest spot in Madrid 🍫💫

Day 7 of Amsterdam Residency

A morning of fermentation and collaboration. We foraged for fragrant plants and herbs from the gardens and crafted a fermented soda with fresh fruits, herbs, and sourdough starter, mashing everything together and leaving it to bubble and brew! 🫧🫐🌿

Later, we had an automatic writing workshop followed by a food rituals session in the glorious sunshine. There was lots of reflection and sharing about what we’ve learned, as well as stories about our homes and food traditions from the past week.🧡🌞
