🇬🇧 Arab muqarna are prisms or polyhedroms made of woods or stucco.
It represents the Hira Cave, a place where the Profet was hidden during 15 days and where he got the revelations for writing the Koran.
It can be found in many Muslims buildings.

🇪🇸 Las torres o atalayas, como la de Albolote, constituían elementos de comunicación, control y vigilancia. Desde ellas se dominaba un amplio territorio. Se emplazaban en lugares estratégicos, para poder hacer señales a las otras torres y castillos cercanos, en el caso de descubrir los movimientos de las tropas enemigas.

El Torreón de Albolote o de Sierra Elvira, es de época nazarí, y está fechado en el siglo XIII.

🇬🇧 The towers or watchtowers, such as the one at Albolote, were elements of communication, control and surveillance. From them, a large territory was dominated. They were placed in strategic locations, in order to be able to send signals to other nearby towers and castles, in the event of discovering the movements of enemy troops.

The Torreón de Albolote or Sierra Elvira Tower dates from the Nasrid period and dates from the 13th century.

This 2021 has been very intense for me, almost all the balance is positive except for the death of my father, although I know that he is also much better now... Otherwise, I can't be more grateful to life. I love my family, a job that I am passionate about, friends, health and... love.

🇬🇧 In the past, the women of Vejer de la Frontera wore dark clothes, made up of heavy sackcloth and a kind of black shawl which, like a veil, covered the whole face except the left eye.

Believe it or not, it is not associated with Islamic or Andalusian culture, but is an attire of Castilian origin, from the 16th and 17th centuries, although its composition retains some Islamic reminiscences,

🇪🇦 Antiguamente las mujeres de Vejer de la Frontera vestían ropas oscuras, compuestas de sayos pesados y una especie de mantón negro que, a modo de velo, tapaba todo el rostro menos el ojo izquierdo.

Aunque parezca mentira, no se asocia a la cultura islámica ni andalusí, sino que es un atuendo de origen castellano, entre los siglos XVI y XVII, aunque por su composición mantiene alguna reminiscencia islámica.

Of all the white villages in the Sierra de Cádiz, Arcos de la Frontera is one of the most beautiful ❤️.
There are traces of its first prehistoric and Roman settlers, but it is to the Muslim culture that the town owes its imprint and current physiognomy.
Through very narrow and steep streets and under ancient arches, it was the border between the Nasrid Kingdom and the Christians.
Really Beautiful 💫

De todos los pueblos blancos de la Sierra de Cádiz, Arcos de la Frontera es de los más bonitos ❤️
Existen huellas de sus primeros pobladores prehistóricos y romano pero a quien debe la ciudad su impronta y actual fisonomía es a la cultura musulmana.
A través de estrechísimas y empinadas calles y bajo antiguos arcos, fue límite fronterizo entre el Reino Nazarí y los Cristianos.

🇬🇧 Church of Our Saviour. Albaicín quarter. It was the main mosque of the old Muslim quarter and was converted into a parish church in 1501. The only original part that has survived from Muslim times is its courtyard, with its typical orange, lemon and pomegranate trees that all Mesquitas used to have. A large cistern in the centre surrounded by horseshoe arches, typical of the period.

🇪🇦 Iglesia del Salvador. Barrio del Albaicín. Fue la Mesquita principal del antiguo barrio musulmán, convertida en una parroquia en el año 1501. La única parte original que ha sobrevivido desde tiempos musulmanes es su patio, con sus típicos árboles de naranjos, limones y granadas que todas las Mesquitas solían tener. Un gran aljibe en el centro rodeados arcos de herraduras, típicos de la época 💥
