🌍 MEETING OUR TEAM >> .florencia 🤩

⁉ Who are you and what do you do?
😎 I’m Florencia Sommer, Mobility Advisor at Mikmak Relocation. I support individuals and families during one of the biggest transitions in their lives: moving to a new country and starting from scratch in Spain.

⁉ What inspired you to do this work?
✈ Throughout my life, I’ve always been driven by one thing: improving people’s quality of life. Supporting others through meaningful transitions and helping them feel better, safer, and more connected has always felt natural to me. When I met Sarit and she told me about Mikmak Relocation, we immediately clicked. We shared the same vision and values — and now, 3 years later, we continue helping people build new beginnings in Spain, but now together.

⁉ How would you describe your approach?
👩‍🦰 Dynamic, creative, and deeply human. I believe every person and every family experiences relocation differently, so I always try to adapt to their needs, listen carefully, and make the process feel lighter and more organized.

⁉ What makes your work different?
😍 Beyond logistics, I focus on people. Relocating is not only about documents or procedures — it’s about emotions, uncertainty, and building confidence in a new place. I love helping people feel accompanied and supported from the very beginning.

⁉ What does “relocation” mean to you?
💡 For me, relocation means transformation. It’s an opportunity to grow, reinvent yourself, and create a new sense of home while navigating change with support and guidance.

🌱 I believe every new beginning deserves empathy, clarity, and care — because feeling at home starts long before unpacking bags.

🚗 Getting the driving license in Spain can take forever!! 👀

If you’re a non-EU expat, your foreign license is usually valid for only 6 months after residency 🇪🇸

Good news: Spain has exchange agreements with countries like:

🇦🇷 Argentina
🇨🇴 Colombia
🇨🇱 Chile
🇵🇪 Peru
🇺🇾 Uruguay
🇧🇷 Brazil
🇲🇦 Morocco
🇯🇵 Japan
🇰🇷 South Korea
🇬🇧 UK
🇨🇭 Switzerland

⚠ BUT your license normally must have been issued BEFORE becoming a Spanish resident.

And one more thing…if your country has no exchange agreement then you need to think in advance...
📅 DGT appointments in Barcelona & Madrid can take forever.
Start early — waiting lists between the theory exam and the practical exam is 5 months😅

Save this post 📌 and send it to another expat in Spain.

❗Education in Barcelona: it’s not just about the school

Choosing a school isn’t ticking a box.
It’s shaping how the whole family will adapt.

👩‍🏫Barcelona offers multiple paths: public, semi-private, private, and international. But the key isn’t which one is “better”… it’s which one fits you.

Because each option comes with trade-offs:
✅ Language (Catalan, Spanish, English…)
✅ Level of integration
✅ Flexibility if you relocate again
✅ Type of community

At Mikmak Relocation, we see it all the time:
when the choice is strategic, a child’s adaptation changes completely.

And that impacts everything else.

Sometimes you don’t need more options.
You need to truly understand the ones you already have.

A day at Academy Day in Barcelona 🏙️

Lots of conversations about where the real estate sector is heading…

✔️ how to attract clients in a changing market
✔️ how to justify value and fees
✔️ the importance of trust (especially with landlords)
✔️ and how AI is starting to reshape everything

One thing was clear: the industry is evolving — and collaboration is becoming more important than ever 🤝

From our side, working with international clients every day, we see how all these challenges become even more complex when you add different systems, timelines and expectations.

That’s why working together across the ecosystem is key.

Great event, great conversations, and lots to build on 🚀 >>> Check out our LinkedIn post about it!!

🎓 Types of schools in Barcelona (and what they really cost)

Moving to Barcelona with kids? Choosing a school is one of the MOST important decisions… and also one of the most confusing.

Let’s simplify it 👇

1️⃣ Public schools
2️⃣ Semi-private schools (“concertados”)
3️⃣ Private schools
4️⃣ International schools

💡 Important:
On top of tuition, consider:
❗️enrollment fees
❗️meals
❗️transport
❗️extracurricular activities
👉 Total yearly cost in private/international schools can reach €10,000 – €30,000+

✨ Real relocation tip:
There’s no “best school” — only the best fit for YOUR family:
📍 language
📍 budget
📍 location
📍 education style

💬 So....choosing a school is not something you want to improvise.
