Today, we continue highlighting key legal milestones shaping disability inclusion in France.
On July 12, 1990, France enacted a foundational law aimed at guaranteeing equal rights, autonomy, and full participation for persons with disabilities across all areas of society — including education, employment, healthcare, and cultural life. This law marked a shift toward a rights-based approach, emphasizing the responsibility of public authorities to ensure inclusion and accessibility.
As part of the MINDful project, we build on this framework by supporting inclusive practices in the retail sector — helping organisations develop accessible, equitable workplaces that respect and empower all individuals.

On July 10, 1987, France took a major step forward in supporting employment rights for people with disabilities.
The law introduced obligations for companies to include persons with disabilities in their workforce, promoting equal opportunities and inclusion.
As part of the MINDful project, we continue to support these principles by helping organisations create accessible and inclusive workplaces, particularly in the retail sector.

📢Last MINDful Transnational Project Meeting
Last week the MINDful consortium gathered in Valencia for our last in person meeting.
Partners from Spain, Greece and France met to review all the progress achieved so far, as well as plan the next exciting steps toward a more inclusive retail sector for persons with hearing, visual, and physical disabilities (PwHVPD).

📊 Did you know that the majority of retailers rarely (35%) or occasionally (33%) promote disability inclusion in their workspaces?
🧠 According to research conducted through the MINDful project, many companies are still not actively raising awareness or understanding of disability inclusion, especially in customer service roles.
💬 It’s time to do better. Inclusion starts with awareness.

🎯 Supporting the dignity of people with disabilities!
This is a set of guidelines about how to approach people with disabilities. The rules of etiquette and good manners for interacting with people with disabilities in ways that enhance their dignity are generally the same as the rules for good etiquette in society.
Basic good behaviors in people with disabilities 👇👇
✅ The basic principle is to put the person before the impairment.
✅ Ask before you help
✅ Be careful about physical contact
✅ Think before you speak
✅ Always speak directly to the person with disability, not to their companion, aide or sign language interpreter.
✅ Respect their privacy. If you ask about their disability, they may feel like you see them only as a disability and not as a person.
✅ Don’t make assumptions
✅ Never ask "What happened to you?"
✅ Respond graciously to accessibility requests
Respect is a way of life. Make a difference every day.!!!

🎓 Mind Your (Retail) Business Training Session 🛍️
Last week, the MINDful project carried out an inspiring 3-day training session in Lárisa, Greece. Focused on inclusive practices in the retail sector!💼
From discussions on thoughtful hiring, accessible store layouts, proper workplace behaviour, crisis management and other important aspects, participants dove deep into creating workplaces that work for everyone.
