🚨 Mohamed Abeid, MD – Clinical Data Contributing to ASMBS 2026 Guidelines
I am pleased to share that our clinical experience with the Orbera intragastric balloon, involving a cohort of 1,600 patients, has been cited within the ASMBS 2026 Guidelines.
This represents more than a citation—
it reflects integration of real-world data into the evidence base guiding obesity management.
The series is based on high-volume clinical practice with structured follow-up, demonstrating consistent and reproducible outcomes.
⸻
⚖️ Take-home message:
Endoscopic bariatric therapies continue to establish their role, particularly when supported by robust real-world evidence.
⸻
Grateful to all colleagues and team members involved in patient care and follow-up.

Proud to share a recent milestone in the development of the EndoBand technique.
Obesity Surgery (Springer Nature) has published an independent editorial review evaluating our Endoscopic Band Ligation (EndoBand) approach for weight loss. The editorial highlights:
• Strong short-term efficacy and safety
• ~70% lower cost compared with other endobariatric procedures
• Superior outcomes when banding the gastric antrum
• Short procedure time (12–15 minutes)
• No serious complications reported
The authors conclude that antral EndoBand may represent a “less-is-more” paradigm — targeting a small anatomical region for maximal clinical benefit.”
Grateful for this international recognition and looking forward to the next phase of multicenter studies, refinement of technique, and future device development.
🌍✨ A great honor to share!
My novel technique for weight loss – Endoscopic Band Ligation (EndoBand) – is now officially featured on the ASGE Website (GILeap platform), available for gastroenterologists and endoscopists to learn worldwide. 🙏
This recognition by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) marks an important milestone, proving that innovation from Egypt can contribute to the global fight against obesity.
💡 Affordable, safe, and effective – EndoBand is opening new hope for patients everywhere.
🔗 Proud moment to see it now available for education across the world on the ASGE learning platform.

🌍 Proud to share my latest publication in Obesity Surgery Journal!
🔗 “Endoscopic Band Ligation for Weight Loss: Exploring the Gastric Antrum as a Promising Target”
📌 This original Egyptian technique offers a non-surgical approach to obesity treatment using endoscopic band ligation (EBL).
The study compares banding the gastric body vs. gastric antrum, with key findings:
✅ Greater weight loss in the antrum group
✅ Shorter procedure time (12–15 minutes)
✅ Minimal post-procedure nausea or pain
✅ Safe, effective, and affordable — no surgery, no medications, no injections
⚕️ This approach could be a game-changer in limited-resource settings, especially across MENA, Africa, and beyond.
💬 I’d love to hear your feedback, thoughts, and opportunities for multicenter collaboration.
