The Sphinx of Memphis, 1920s Sphinxes are often guards or protectors of ancient Egyptian sacred places. Some represent kings (pharaohs), with their human faces attached to the body of a lion - an animal recognized as the ultimate symbol of power. In this case, we don’t know which pharaoh is represent here, because there are no inscriptions on the monument. However, some theories suggest that it may even be Queen Hatshepsut or Amenhotep II or Amenhotep III. This sphinx was unearthed in 1912 by Flinders Petrie near the remains of Memphis. It is one of the largest monuments ever made from Egyptian alabaster.

Kalabsha
This group of temples were all saved from a watery end by UNESCO's rescue project and now sit on the banks of Lake Nasser. Kalabsha Temple is the best preserved of the three temples here and also the youngest, dating from the time of Roman Emperor Augustus. The most imposing monument in Nubia after the Temple of Abu Simbel, it was built on the site of an earlier temple founded by Amenhotep II and re-founded during the Ptolemaic Dynasty. The decoration was never completed, and the reliefs that do exist are crudely executed. During the Byzantine era, the temple was converted into a church.
Just to the northwest is the Temple of Beit el-Wali ("House of the Holy Man") built by Ramses II and consisting of a vestibule, transverse chamber, and sanctuary. There are lively historical reliefs throughout the interior depicting many of Ramses II's battles and triumphs, including the king's triumph over the Kush*tes and his wars with the Syrians and Libyans.
Tiny Kertassi Temple sits just to the north and has two Hathor columns at the entrance and four other columns with elaborate floral capitals.

The oldest temple ever discovered in Nubia, the famous land south of ancient Egypt, was built during the 18th and 19th Dynasties (or between 1,550 and 1,189 BCE). Egyptian pharaohs made many revisions and renovations over the years. During Akhenaten’s famous reign, for instance, all references to the god Amun were effaced, but then Seti I of Egypt’s 19th dynasty had the name restored
The Temple of Amada is no longer in its original place on the east bank of the Nile River, because it was moved to a higher, safer spot as Lake Nasser flooded in the 1960s and 1970s

Luxor It is the ancient city of Thebes (Tiba).

In Luxor there are one third of the ancient monuments of the world.

While viewing the monuments of the two temples , Luxor & Karnak , we should realize that these wonders were once decorated & ornamented , some walls were covered with gold , silver & marble.

In Luxor the doors of the temples were gilded & linked to each other by columns, paved courtyards & gardens. What we find now are merely the remains of that civilization in Luxor ….
On the western bank of the Nile of Luxor , called Qurna, is the Valley of the Kings which is known all over the world. There are tombs of the greatest pharaohs of the ancient Egyptian Empire. The walls & ceilings are decorated with paintings & scenery that is so brilliant that it seems as though they were only recently painted. The most famous of the tombs are Tut-anhk-Amon , Sety I , Ramses III & Ramses IX.

The tombs of the nobles are found in scattered places of the west side also. There is also the Valley of Queens where the most well known queens were buried such as Nefertari the wife of Ramses II.
