The course focused on the targeting process strategic, operative and tactical levels, where the students have been working with analytical tools and collateral damage estimates. At the end of the course, the students did a simulation exercise to test the skills, which was very beneficial.

ENDEX at Saber Knight
Saber Knight 2018 has come to a successful end. The Danish Division-led exercise has proven its worth and managed to train the affiliated brigades from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark in both staff planning and multinational interoperability.
The ambitions from the Commander of Danish Division were high from the outset of this year’s Saber Knight exercise raising the level of training to new heights. And the brigades rose to the challenge and conducted to a very high standard.

Wheels on exercise Saber Knight 2018
Real life support soldiers are among those who are moving things around all day long for everyone else. That is why it is convenient to borrow a bicycle. The Canadian forces who are staying on the base as part of Enhanced Forward Presence are the happy owners of bicycles and they are lending them out to those in need on the base.
“My estimate is that I’m riding the bike for approximately ten kilometers a day. Kilometers that I otherwise would have to do by foot. We are very grateful that we can borrow these bicycles. They really make our job faster and easier”, says K.L. Andersen, Lance Corporal 1. brigade

The new shoulder sleeve insignia for Saber Knight 2018
For exercise Saber Knight 2018 a new shoulder insignia has been developed. It shows the mark of Danish Division and the flags of the five major participating countries on a blue background with a black ring around it. Beneath the horse is the mark of King Christian 10th (1870-1947). Below the motto of Danish Division "Velox – et – Acer" or "Quick and Sharp" is written.
Nice to know
The knight on the horse is the Duke of Slesvig, Knud Lavard (1096-1131). He became Duke of Slesvig (today the southern part of the Danish peninsula Jutland and the northern part of Germany) in 1115. In the coming years he grew his power and influence to a level where he at last was considered a serious threat to the King of Denmark. In 1131 he was murdered by his cousin Magnus in Haraldsted Forest on Sealand.
His son, Valdemar, later rose to become one of the most important Kings (Valdemar the Great) in the medieval history of Denmark. Knud became a Saint in 1170 and many churches in Denmark are named after him.

Gourmet at exercise Saber Knight 2018
‘Going red’ puts the concept in a whole new perspective at exercise Saber Knight since ketchup, tabasco and chili sauce are the main sauce flavors for all meals with few exceptions.
More than ten liters of ketchup is consumed by the participating soldiers at three meals daily along with approximately 700 kilograms of food.
“The food is produced in two different places. One for breakfast and soup and one for lunch and dinner.”,Supervisor Robert explains.
When asked why the cooked vegetables is always cooked so very thoroughly, Robert elaborates
“The temperature in the boxes during transportation needs to be kept very high so thoroughly cooking is a result of that".
Pancakes was served this sunday morning and that is always a sure winner.

Café Saber Knight 2018
Soldiers on exercise Saber Knight work between 12-15 hours a day and a daily visit to the café is a very nice break from duties.
“The most popular items that the soldiers buy is ice cream and sodas. My estimation is that approximately 40 percent of the soldiers on the exercise come by every day to buy ice cream, snacks, soda or coffee”, says Robert, supervisor and partner in the family company who has the contract for catering during the exercise.
