A new look is coming soon.
But before we get there, it's worth taking a moment to look back at where we started.

Lyngsoe Systems has been around longer than you might think 🤔

It all started in Copenhagen in 1952, not as a library company, but as an automation business building solutions for energy, environment, and industry 🏭

It took decades, a management buy-out, and a deliberate shift in focus before libraries became the heart of what we do.

And by 2003, the company had a new name, Lyngsoe Systems, and a clear direction ↗️

Next week we'll pick up the story from there and get into the acquisitions that shaped the company we are today.

And a glimpse of what's ahead 👀

A sorting system isn't something a library replaces every few years 🧩

Built well and maintained properly, it becomes part of the infrastructure a community depends on.

We service systems across their full lifetime, because uptime matters just as much ten years in as it does on day one 🛠️

Spotted on America By Design 📺

The West Perry Branch of The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library was built to bring better library services to an underserved community in Indianapolis🏛️

In a recent segment from America By Design, Peter Bolick of Architects LLC talks about the role automated material handling plays in freeing up staff to focus on the community.

The sorter in the video was installed by PV Supa, a company that has since become part of Lyngsoe Library Systems, and we're happy to continue to provide service and support.

The fact that it's still running strong is a testament to what a well-built system can do for a library over the long term 💪🏻

Many branches, one network 📚

The UK is home to many library services with multiple branch libraries.

Yet central sortation remains relatively uncommon 🤔

As materials move between branches every day, it raises an interesting question:

Could items reach their destination faster and with fewer handling steps?

Central sortation helps libraries:
✅ Simplify material flows
✅ Reduce manual handling
✅ Support more efficient operations 🚚

For library services with busy transfer networks, it can be a valuable way to streamline logistics while freeing up more time for staff and patrons 👥

Could central sortation be the right fit for your library?

There's something satisfying about seeing library technology where it actually lives 👀

A few weeks back, we visited Vrå Bibliotek in northern Jutland - a combined public and school library tucked inside Vrå Børne- og Kulturhus.

They recently added Lyngsoe LibDeco™ self-service kiosks that fit the warm, Nordic aesthetic so naturally, you'd think they were designed with the room in mind 🌿💭

We definitely left with a real appreciation for how thoughtfully the space is put together.

Worth a visit if you're ever in northern Jutland 📍

Hotdogs, honest conversations, and a few new habits.
Not a bad way to spend a Thursday 🌭💬

Yesterday, our Danish team got together for a follow-up on the teambuilding we did six months ago.

This time, the focus of the workshop was on turning what we learned about communication, feedback, recognition, and meeting culture into something practical and concrete, rooted in the situations we actually face every day 🎯

And because good work deserves good food, a classic Danish pølsevogn joined us for a relaxed lunch together.

A good reminder that some of the best conversations happen away from the desk 🙌🏻

Introducing the Lyngsoe Library Mate™ 1300 🎉

Picture books. Oversized titles. Wide-format materials are a staple of library collections, but they don't always make it through an automated sorting system.

The new Library Mate 1300 self-return kiosk extends the Library Mate range to cover a broader range of materials 📚

With a wider tunnel that accommodates items up to 400 mm, more of what patrons borrow can move through the system automatically.

It runs on the same software as the Lyngsoe Library Mate 1200™ and matches the Scandinavian design of the Lyngsoe LibDeco™ self-check kiosk series.

The kiosk where patrons return their materials now matches the one where they borrow them ✅

Already live at libraries in Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Finland, with partner installations underway worldwide 🌍

Automation isn't a large-library privilege 📏

Automated material handling is often seen as something for large library systems.

But library size rarely determines whether automation makes sense.

Even a compact sorting setup frees up time that currently goes toward manual returns and shelving, and gets materials back in circulation faster 📚

That's true whether you're handling 500 or 5,000 returns a week.

You can start with a small configuration that fits your space and your budget, and expand only if your needs grow🌱

The Sort Mate™ 2000 is built for exactly that.

Libraries work hard to be accessible to everyone 🧑🏻‍🦯‍➡️🧏🏻👨🏻‍🦽‍➡️
Their technology should be, too.

Our spring release of LibRid 4 brings full screen reader support to the LibDeco self-service kiosk - including an audio navigation pad and pin pad - so patrons with visual impairments or cognitive challenges can complete transactions independently 🔊

The update also introduces improved color contrast and adjustable session timing, bringing LibRid 4 into compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, EN 301 549 (EAA), and Revised Section 508✅

Physical accessibility has been part of our kiosk design for years. Now the software experience matches.

Conference season is in full swing 🙌🏻

Last week, our Canadian Account Manager, Steve Battams, attended the Marigold Library System Conference in Alberta, an annual one-day event bringing together library staff and board members across the region

It was one of Steve's first Canadian library events in this role and a great chance to connect with the people who do this work every day 📚

Good conversations, new faces, and a reminder of why getting out into the field matters 💬

Were you at the conference?
We'd love to hear what stood out for you. Let us know in the comments👇🏻
