💥Ensemble Spotlight!
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be taking you behind the scenes to introduce you to the members of the open music ensemble. We’ll be kicking the series off with our violinist, Felix Borel! 👇

Felix Borel – Violin
Felix is an artist with an impressive stylistic range. Alongside his permanent position with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, he is constantly seeking new artistic inspiration through improvisation. His versatility is also reflected in his work with renowned ensembles such as ensemble recherche, Camerata Bern, Trio Ginko, the Kurmann Strings and the Helios Quartet. He holds a teaching post in improvisation at the Freiburg University of Music. Felix has been a permanent member of open music since 2018 and has significantly enriched our work with his creative energy ever since.

💥Ensemble Spotlight!
In our weekly series introducing the musicians of the open music ensemble, we are pleased to present a second member: clarinetist Felix Behringer (and yes, following last week's introduction, the second Felix in our ranks) 👇

Felix Behringer is a highly versatile clarinetist with a deep, passionate commitment to contemporary music. After completing his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Manhattan School of Music in New York, he was selected for a scholarship at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to his work as a freelance musician, Behringer teaches at the Zurich Conservatory of Music
He has long been a cornerstone of our formation: Felix joined open music in 2013 and has been deeply enriching our ensemble for over a decade.

💥Ensemble Spotlight!
Our weekly series on the musicians of the open music ensemble continues; today we are excited to introduce one of the three artistic directors and board members: Roderik Vanderstraeten

Roderik Vanderstraeten – sound director, composer, musician, sound engineer, open music Artistic Director
Roderik Vanderstraeten works as a sound engineer, sound director and recording producer at the intersection of composition, electroacoustic practice and the performing arts. The focus is on music production: sound is developed as a formal and spatial structure, documented and translated into performance or release formats. Depending on the context, this results in sound scores, cue structures, live setups, studio realisations and reproducible workflows.
He studied music theory, piano and classical guitar, trained in dance and the performing arts at the Rudra Béjart School in Lausanne, and subsequently completed a diploma in audio engineering in London. Since 1998, he has worked as a freelance sound engineer, sound director, sound designer, composer and musician for stage and media. Since 2019, he has been a board member of open music e.V. Stuttgart, where he is responsible for production and laboratory formats that bridge composition and improvisation – particularly in recording, documentation and concert formats.
