A lack of floorspace and legacy constraints could have prevented design and manufacturing specialist Miltronik from taking the next step in continuously improving production capabilities. Yamaha Robotics’ YRi-V dual-lane AOI system overcame that barrier and enabled the company to go further by upgrading two assembly lines in the space of one.

Miltronik’s headquarters in Hilden, Germany, houses design, logistics, and advanced manufacturing capabilities in the same site that has served the company since 1986. The team conceives, develops, and produces electronic control systems, operating units, communication systems, and instrumentation for equipment like road construction machinery, e-bikes, railway systems, commercial catering systems. The company has built a loyal customer base in sectors including manufacturing and process industries, agricultural, medical, pharmaceuticals, and transportation.

In high-mix manufacturing, maintaining component availability is a constant challenge. Operators must react quickly to low component levels, prepare replacement feeders, and avoid unexpected production interruptions.

💡 Yamaha's Alternate Parts Free Set helps automate this process.

When a component reaches a predefined warning level, the system can automatically create an alternate parts setting for a compatible feeder installed in an available position. When the original feeder becomes empty, the machine can continue picking from the alternate feeder, helping to maintain production continuity. The purpose of the function is to allow parts supply without stopping the machine.

With Yamaha's Parts DB Auto-Setting for Identical Parts, the system automatically applies the correct Parts Database information during setup based on the scanned Parts ID. The function is designed to help manage identical parts from different vendors while reducing operator effort and minimizing setup-related issues.

Setting up inspection libraries has traditionally been a time‑consuming and manual process. With the new Smart AI Parts Make function on Yamaha YRi‑V AOI, this is changing.
✅ Automatic parts library creation using AI
Simply teach around the component, and the system automatically recognises the parts type and partial shapes (such as body and leads).
✅ Intelligent inspection setup
Based on the detected geometry, the system automatically selects the appropriate inspection steps, reducing programming effort and minimising variability.
✅ Flexible fine-tuning
Recognised shapes can still be manually adjusted, giving full control to engineers when needed.
✅ End-to-end efficiency
Pads and inspection items are generated automatically, accelerating the transition from programming to stable production.
