Today we celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace . We do this together with our friends, partners and many other people all over the world as we all recognise the potential of sport to achieve positive development for society and individuals. This day helps to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilise political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity in and through sport

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we advocate for social distancing while still being active. There is an abundance of free and accessible online and digital tools targeted at encouraging people of all ages and abilities to and mobile while remaining at home.

Especially now in these difficult times we need to prove our societal team spirit in order to . If possible, let’s stay home to stay healthy.

Our friends from encourage everyone to share their games which can be played at home to decrease mental stress and spread fun and happiness

Today is the National Independence Day in Ghana where our partner organization is located. Kwame Nkrumah was the first president of an African country after colonialism in Ghana and one of the main driving forces for African independence in general.

As an organization working in a development related field we continuously try to reflect on our position also in regard to neo-colonialism which is a term coined by Nkrumah. Therefore, we advocate a participatory approach in our projects where everyone is regarded as an equal partner and where we learn from each other in a reciprocal manner. Especially in Ghana which is a country that is very rich in its culture and history this is regarded as very important to us

Our all-inclusive project in Ghana with provides an opportunity for children with and without disability to participate in sport together.
Therefore, we are using Mixed-Ability Model to advocate an innovative approach to connect people through sport, improve personal development and the societal perception of people with disability

ANOPA is flexibly looking for volunteers / interns for at least three months in 2020 to coach in the sporting activities and to contribute for successful organizational development. Apply now and experience Ghana!

YOUR TASKS
• sporting activities: assisting training of various teams, possibly organizing and implementing events
• PR: communication with stakeholders and organizational partners, updating the social media platforms and the website
• administrative/organizational responsibilities: reporting, support in M&E activities and accounting
• educational/life skill programs in primary school: creating concepts, implementation of concepts
• fundraising
• video- / photography

YOUR PROFILE
• passionate about sport (swimming, soccer or basketball is desirable)
• linguistic skills: proficiency in spoken and written English; further language knowledge is desirable
• ability to assimilate in new environments
• experiences in coaching sports is desirable
• project management experiences, sport-for-development engagements are desired
