SIlent Flood won the Silver Horn award at Krakow Film Festival 🏆

The Silver Horn for the Director of a Film of High Artistic Merit was awarded to Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk for Silent Flood 👏

📜JURY STATEMENT: We were profoundly moved by the way in which the film captures the beauty of simple gestures with unwavering artistic rigour and faith in humanity, even in the darkest hours of war. Bread-making becomes a metaphor for the act of filmmaking itself: an exercise in patience, perseverance, and solidarity that unfolds over time, nourishing the hope for a better world. For its remarkable artistic vision and unforgettable cinematography, we award the Silver Horn to Silent Flood.

In the interview she shares insights about her vision and the filmmaking process.

"She has been watching films from the great Armenian director Sergei Parajanov (Shadows Of Forgotten Ancestors, The Colour Of Pomegranates) and acknowledges him as an influence. Working together with cinematographer, Étienne Roussy, she “followed the cycle of nature,” and tried to ensure there was no sense of stress or “hurry” in the storytelling."
