In real enterprise networks, MPLS can mean very different things โ and choosing between ๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ฆ ๐๐ฏ๐ฉ๐ฃ๐ก and ๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ฆ ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฃ๐ก is not about which one is โbetter.โ
It is about architecture.
L3VPN is usually the right fit for routed corporate WANs, branch connectivity, managed routing, and scalable IP networks.
L2VPN is often used for data center interconnect, VLAN extension, legacy systems, and scenarios where the customer wants more control over routing.
And the important part: these services are not mutually exclusive. In many networks, they work together โ L3VPN for branches, L2VPN for data centers, Cloud Connect for cloud platforms, and SD-WAN or DIA for internet access and redundancy.

CERT-EU has published ๐๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ฒ-๐ฌ๐ฏ, covering recent cybersecurity incidents affecting European networks. The report highlights continued DDoS activity aimed at disrupting operations, as well as other attempts to destabilize digital services and infrastructure.
A key feature of these incidents is their focus on DDoS campaigns are increasingly used to reduce availability and degrade network performance, often impacting multiple services at once.
Recent activity shows how quickly traffic patterns can change during coordinated DDoS attacks. These attacks may shift between targets and regions, putting pressure on detection speed and network-wide visibility.
At IPTP Networks, we see that effective response depends on early detection of abnormal traffic and the ability to isolate it across distributed infrastructure. This requires continuous monitoring and coordinated mitigation measures at both routing and transit levels.
For customers, the impact is felt directly at the service level. Stability depends on how quickly the network can detect abnormal load and maintain normal traffic flow under pressure. โก
A classic protection mechanism against parasitic traffic generated by DDoS attacks is a paired ๐๐๐ฆ/๐๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ deployed at both ends of the operatorโcustomer channel.
The customer side analyzes traffic using ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ฆ within its own infrastructure and configures filtering rules on the ๐๐ฃ๐ฆ deployed at the operatorโs site. This helps eliminate parasitic traffic in the last-mile channel and mitigates attacks targeting services hosted on the customerโs infrastructure.

Open Compute Project has launched the ๐ข๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ initiative โ an important signal for the entire digital infrastructure industry.
OCP clearly outlines the scale of the shift: rapid growth in ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐, a roadmap toward ๐ญ๐ ๐ช ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐, the development of ๐๐ช-๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ and ๐บ๐๐น๐๐ถ-๐๐ช ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐๐๐ฒ๐, as well as the need for standardized facility-level designs for power, cooling, grid interconnect, telemetry, and operational integration.
This means AI infrastructure can no longer be viewed as a simple extension of a traditional data center. Supporting AI workloads is not just about โadding GPUs.โ It requires rethinking the entire physical and network architecture โ from grid connection and power distribution to liquid cooling, resilience, monitoring, equipment logistics, and time-to-production.
The OCP initiative confirms an important shift: an AI-ready data center is not a set of GPU racks, but a complex engineering system where power, cooling, connectivity, and operations must be designed together.
For AI workloads, what matters is not only compute capacity, but the stability of the entire infrastructure environment: power quality, liquid cooling readiness, network design, telemetry, and the speed of bringing a cluster into production.
So the question is no longer whether a site has available kilowatts and space. The real question is whether it can ensure predictable AI cluster operations throughout the full lifecycle โ from deployment to scaling and maintenance.
For IPTP Networks, this reinforces the need for an integrated approach: AI infrastructure must be designed simultaneously as a compute, power, cooling, and connectivity environment. Only then can we talk not just about hosting equipment, but about true readiness for industrial-scale AI workloads.
AI data center is no longer โa data center plus GPUs.โ It is a new category of critical infrastructure โ where the advantage belongs to those who can bring power, cooling, networking, and operations into one coherent architecture.

On April 16, 2026, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced that by June 2026 it will issue a decision on large-load interconnection to the power grid. The focus is on data centers and other energy-intensive infrastructure, where demand is rapidly increasing.
This marks a shift from fragmented, case-by-case decisions toward a more systematic regulatory approach to integrating large-scale power consumers.
The reason is clear: the rapid growth of AI-driven computing capacity, increasing rack density, and higher per-unit loads in data centers are placing significant pressure on energy infrastructure. Power supply is becoming just as critical as network connectivity.
This is an important signal for businesses, infrastructure operators, as well as power generation and supply companies. While site selection has traditionally been driven by connectivity, latency, and geography, power availability is now becoming a key deciding factor.
Against the backdrop of AI-driven demand growth, competition for energy resources will continue to intensify. As generation capacity becomes more constrained, electricity costs are expected to rise.
For enterprise customers, this fundamentally changes the decision-making framework:
โ assess available power capacity at a location in advance
โ factor in connection timelines and consumption limits
โ design backup power supply scenarios
โ adopt distributed infrastructure strategies across multiple locations
When deploying new points of presence (PoPs), IPTP Networks takes into account the limits and scalability of the data centerโs power infrastructure. Power supply constraints per rack directly affect deployment density, which in turn impacts the overall economics and margins of the PoP.
For businesses, the takeaway is clear: the infrastructure of the future is not just about network speed and reliability โ it is also about guaranteed access to power as a strategic resource.

On February 3, 2026, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) announced the outcomes of the Submarine Cable Resilience Summit in Porto. Participants from more than 70 countries โ including governments, businesses, and international organizations โ confirmed the need for stronger protection, coordination, and investment in this critical infrastructure.
The summit resulted in a declaration and a set of practical recommendations developed in collaboration with the International Cable Protection Committee, highlighting key points:
โ over 99% of international internet traffic is carried by submarine cables
โ around 500 cables spanning more than 1.7 million kilometers form the backbone of global connectivity
โ more than 200 cable faults occur annually, impacting economies, access to services, and the daily lives of billions
The market has clearly moved beyond the traditional understanding of network connectivity. Submarine cables are no longer just data transmission infrastructure โ they are the foundation of the global digital economy, cloud services, and AI systems. Submarine cable infrastructure is also a critical component of the global financial system, including national and international banking operations. The security of any country is closely tied to global connectivity โ without it, overall security degrades.
This is especially critical for AI, as distributed computing, data center synchronization, and global platforms directly depend on stable intercontinental connectivity. A cable disruption is not just about latency โ it creates real risks of service failures and business disruption.
At IPTP Networks, when designing network topologies and architectural solutions, we rely on time-tested principles:
โ designing connectivity based on the physical geography of cable routes
โ building fault-tolerant, geo-redundant solutions between data centers
โ integrating network security, including traffic filtering and DDoS protection
โ leveraging intelligent traffic management
โ accounting for real infrastructure risks โ from geography to repair processes
For businesses, the takeaway is clear: network resilience is not an optional feature โ it is a fundamental requirement for modern infrastructure, especially as demand from digital services and AI systems continues to grow.
