Meet Pirata’s story 🐾

He was found by our drivers on the side of the road. Weak, abandoned, but still fighting.

One of his eyes couldn’t be saved.
That’s how he got his name: Pirata (Pirate).

But there is something he never lost: his spirit.

Pirata has always been playful, loving, and trusting, never fearful, only ready to connect and love.

Then something beautiful happened.
Fiona, a veterinary student volunteering with us, met him… and fell in love. 💛

She chose him. She adopted him.

Today, Pirata is safe at Casa Verde, waiting to reunite.

Samira 💛🐾

Samira joined us on May 4th with a quiet presence and a big heart.
A veterinarian eager to learn and grow, she came to deepen her experience in spay surgeries and left having given so much more.

Calm, kind, and incredibly dedicated, Samira supported our team with care and sensitivity, always putting the animals first.
In every small gesture, you could feel her love for what she does.

She left on June 1st, and her absence is already felt.
We are truly grateful for the time, knowledge, and warmth she shared with us.

Kitty 🐾

Olá! Eu sou a Kitty 💛
Uma gatinha de 3 meses, pequenina… mas com uma personalidade forte.

Sou amiga do Clyde e, à primeira vista, posso parecer um pouco “corajosa”😄 sim, às vezes faço um mini “roar” quando alguém se aproxima.
Mas é só a minha forma de me proteger.

Se me deres um pouco de tempo, vais ver que começo a confiar… e, aos poucos, vou aceitar o teu carinho.

Só preciso de alguém gentil, paciente e com amor para dar, alguém que entenda que confiança leva tempo.

Estou à procura de um lar responsável, para toda a vida.
Um lugar onde me sinta segura, possa crescer… e finalmente pertencer 🐾✨

A tiny 3-month-old kitten with a strong little personality.

I’m friends with Clyde, and while I may seem a bit fierce at first😄 yes, I do a tiny “roar” when you get close. It’s just my way of protecting myself.

Give me a little time, and I’ll slowly learn to trust… and accept your cuddles.

I just need someone gentle, patient, and kind
someone who understands that trust takes time.

I’m looking for a responsible, loving forever home.
A place where I can feel safe, grow, and truly belong 🐾✨

Meet Pedro 💻🐾

Pedro, Portuguese with residence in Spain, joined us on April 30th.
He came motivated to help, influenced by friends who had volunteered at Simabô and also arriving at the same time as his partner, who was volunteering in another organization in Cabo Verde.

He first applied for kennel work, but once we discovered his IT background, it became clear he could contribute even more.
And he did… supporting both animal care and technical needs, from fixing equipment to improving systems across the clinic and hostel.

He left on June 1st, feeling fulfilled, and so did we.
He told us something simple, but important: there is still so much to do, and every kind of help truly matters at Simabô.

We are truly grateful for his contribution 💛

Not all volunteering is clinical.

Apresentamos o Pedro 💻🐾

O Pedro, português com residência em Espanha, chegou até nós a 30 de abril.
Veio com vontade de ajudar, influenciado por amigos que já passaram pela Simabô e também por ter vindo ao mesmo tempo que a sua namorada, que fazia voluntariado noutra instituição em Cabo Verde.

Candidatou-se para o canil, mas, ao descobrirmos a sua área em TI, rapidamente percebemos que podia contribuir ainda mais.
E assim foi. Entre o canil e o apoio técnico, ajudou a melhorar sistemas, reparar equipamentos e dar suporte à clínica e ao hostel.

Despediu-se a 1 de junho, satisfeito, e, nós também.
Disse-nos algo simples, mas importante: há muito por fazer e toda a ajuda faz diferença na Simabô.

They are back🥺💔
Batman and Coringa🐱🧡

Two ginger brothers.
Batman, the calmer one. Joker, the more energetic.

They came to the clinic when they were still very young and, for a moment, we believed they had found their happy ending.
But that wasn’t the case.

They were adopted once… and returned.
At the time, we were told they would be put out on the street so we brought them back, hoping to give them another, better chance.

They were adopted a second time, by another family.
And once again, they came back. This time, because of a house move.

And the truth is, this hurts.
Because for them, every change isn’t just a change. It’s stress, confusion, and starting all over again.

Adoption should be responsible. It should be for life.
If that’s not certain, then it shouldn’t happen.

They deserve more than attempts.
They deserve commitment, love… and, above all, a calm and safe life 🤍

Eles estão de volta 🥺💔
Batman e Coringa🐱🧡

Dois irmãos laranjinhas.
O Batman, mais calminho. O Coringa, mais agitado.

Vieram para a clínica ainda muito novinhos e, entretanto, pensámos que já tinham encontrado o seu final feliz.
Mas não foi assim.

Foram adotados uma primeira vez… e devolvidos.
Na altura, disseram que seriam colocados na rua então nós trouxemo-los de volta, na esperança de lhes dar outra oportunidade, uma melhor.

Foram adotados uma segunda vez, por outra família.
E, mais uma vez, voltaram. Desta vez, por causa de uma mudança de casa.

E a verdade é que isto dói.
Porque, para eles, cada mudança não é só uma mudança. É stress, é confusão, é ter de recomeçar tudo outra vez.

A adoção deve ser responsável. Deve ser para a vida.
Se não há essa certeza, então não deve acontecer.

Eles merecem mais do que tentativas.
Merecem compromisso, amor… e, acima de tudo, uma vida calma e segura 🤍

Antes e Depois do nosso Águia🐶🐾

Há poucos dias, o Águia, um cão de rua já conhecido na sua zona, foi atropelado.

O impacto foi no rosto, deixando o seu olho gravemente ferido.

Foi então que chegou até nós.
Recebeu os cuidados necessários, foi operado e acompanhado de perto.

Com o passar dos dias, e com os cuidados certos, foi recuperando.

Hoje, o Águia está bem, sem dor, e já voltou para o seu lugar de sempre.

No fundo, é isto que fazemos:
estamos presentes quando é preciso, tratamos, e garantimos que possam continuar a viver com dignidade.

🐾 Mais um animal cuidado e isso deixa-nos genuinamente felizes.

Before and After our Aguia (Eagle)🐶🐾

A few days ago, Águia a street dog known in his area was hit by a car.

The impact was on his face, leaving his eye severely injured.

That’s when he was brought to us.
He received the care he needed, underwent surgery, and was closely monitored.

Over the past few days, with the right care, he recovered.

Today, Águia is well, pain-free, and back where he belongs.

This is what we do:
we show up when it matters, we treat, and we make sure they can continue living with dignity.

🐾 One more life cared for and that truly makes us happy.
