Dis-patch collective grew out of the activities of Belgradeyard Sound System, a pioneering organization in the region of SEE when it comes to cutting-edge music, related arts and independent culture. This multi-faceted organization has been active in its hometown of Belgrade, Serbia, and across the Balkans, Europe and North American continent since the year 2000. Its base was the regular radio sho
w of the same name at the B92 radio, as well as party series and special events promoting experimental music of various styles. In 2002, it kickstarted its central project - the annual Dis-patch Festival of cutting-edge music and related arts - which ran until 2010 presenting 9 editions of international, trans-disciplinary program rich in concerts, special commissions, collaborations and special projects. The festival has played a key role in the development of local scene and audiences for the peculiar mixture of music styles and related art projects it presented. Over the course of 9 editions, around 400 artists from more than 20 countries have presented themselves in Serbia, many of them within special commissions and artistic collaborations initiated, produced and presented by Dis-patch. The collective also realized a number of touring projects around Europe and in USA and Canada, the most prominent one being two ViceVerse tours with Communikey organization from the USA. After resuming its activities in the festival format, the collective continued to initiate, curate and produce a great number of individual projects form the fields of artistic education and collaboration, electronic music, exhibition production, as well as site-specific and nomadic projects. It also continued to develop its youth off-shoot KidsPatch, which was premiered in 2008, an annual festival and initiative dedicated to creative collaborations between artists and children, which also toured a number of events across Europe and is itself a part of several local and European partnerships.
