AASKM Launches New WBNET Training Programs in Digital Skills and Cybersecurity

Within the WBNET project, Akademija strukovnih studija kosovsko-metohijska officially launched short training programs in digital business, internet security, and multimedia tools. 🚀
In the first cycle, 20 participants enrolled in each program, gaining opportunities to develop practical digital skills through online learning, hands-on training, and professional practice. đź’»
The programs represent another important step toward modernization of higher education and stronger connection between academia and labour market needs. 📚

UPKM Training for ST professionals
On 22 April 2026, the first day of the training for transport professionals was held at the within the framework of the project SPHERE. The aim of the training was to enhance knowledge exchange and professional development in the field of sustainable transport and modern transportation systems.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn about current European practices, innovative solutions, and challenges related to transport, mobility, sustainability and most of all safety.
The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Zoran Golubović, together with Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Petrović, Prof. Dr. Živče Šarkoćević, Prof. Dr. Miloš Pljakić, and the Erasmus+ Office representative in Kosovo and Metohija, Goran Lazić, who addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of international cooperation, education modernization, and the implementation of sustainable solutions in the transport sector.
At the end of the program, all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful participation and the competencies gained throughout the training.
On this occasion, several other Erasmus+ projects were also promoted, including WBNET. The presentation of these projects highlighted the importance of international cooperation, digital transformation, sustainability, and the modernization of higher education through collaboration between universities, institutions, and industry partners.

UPKM Sustainable Future: Integration of Green Technologies into Higher Education
A lecture titled “Sustainable Future: Integration of Green Technologies into Higher Education” was held on April 28, 2026, in Kosovska Mitrovica, at the Faculty of Technical Sciences. The event was opened with introductory remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, prof. dr Zoran Golubović who emphasized the importance of aligning higher education with contemporary environmental and technological challenges.
Following the opening, Goran Lazić, a representative of the Erasmus+ office, provided an overview of ongoing Erasmus+ projects and their role in supporting sustainability and innovation in education. Representative of University rectorate Miloš Subotić also greeted the attendees and made a review of the ongoing projects coordinated by UPKM. The main lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Siniša Ilić, who spoke about the integration of green technologies into academic curricula and the importance of educating future professionals in this field.
During this lecture Erasmus+ project WBNET was promoted.
The event gathered representatives from all faculties of the university, highlighting a shared commitment to sustainable development and interdisciplinary cooperation in higher education.

UPKM Open day

On April 8th 2026, a visit of high school students to the Faculty of Technical Sciences Kosovska Mitrovica was organized ahead of the upcoming enrollment period, giving future students the opportunity to get familiar with the faculty, its study programs, and academic environment.
During the visit, students toured the faculty premises and laboratories, gaining first-hand insight into teaching facilities, equipment, and practical aspects of studying.
The attendees were addressed by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Zoran Golubović, as well as the Vice Deans for Teaching, who provided more information about the enrollment process, study opportunities, and student life.
As part of the event, Erasmus+ projects were also promoted, including WBNET. Students were introduced to the possibilities these projects offer, such as international cooperation, mobility opportunities, and participation in initiatives that enhance both academic and professional development.

UPKM Hackathon KM 2030
On April 4th 2026, the hackathon “Kosovska Mitrovica 2030” was successfully held on the Faculty of technical sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica, organized by Gymnasium Kosovska Mitrovica, Faculty of Technical Sciences Kosovska Mitrovica, and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Kosovska Mitrovica.
On the first day, the event officially opened with addresses from the organizers and members of the expert jury, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives and introduced the first hackathon of this kind in Kosovska Mitrovica. This was followed by team presentations, where participants introduced their initial ideas and concepts.
The second day was dedicated to final presentations, during which teams showcased their developed solutions, followed by the announcement of the winners and the closing ceremony.
As part of the event, the Erasmus+ project WBNET was also promoted. The project aims to modernize higher education and reduce the gap between academic knowledge and labor market needs by developing flexible, practice-oriented programs in fields such as multimedia engineering, programming, and digital technologies. Both high school pupils and university students were introduced to the WBNET project, gaining insight into its goals, activities, and the opportunities it offers. They learned more about possibilities for academic development, international cooperation, and active participation in initiatives that connect universities with the wider community.

Green Week 2026 event at AASKM

The Green Week 2026 event was successfully organized at the Academy of Applied Studies Kosovo and Metohija – Department Zvečan, from April 20 to 24, 2026.
The event was implemented in line with the EU Green Week initiative, with the aim of promoting digitalization, green energy transition, and the importance of lifelong learning in the energy sector. Throughout the five-day program, students, academic staff, industry representatives, media, and the wider public participated in various educational and promotional activities.
The program included presentations on the application of ICT and digital technologies in the energy sector, promotion of the WBNET project and newly established laboratory capacities, workshops, student activities, and meetings with business sector representatives. Special attention was dedicated to practical demonstrations of laboratory equipment acquired through the project, emphasizing the role of smart systems, IoT, and digital solutions in modern energy systems and lifelong learning through the short study programs.
The event also received significant media attention, including a prime-time report broadcast by TV Most, contributing to wider dissemination and visibility of project activities and results.
Green Week 2026 successfully contributed to raising awareness about green and digital transition, strengthening cooperation between academia and industry, and increasing the visibility of the WBNET project and capacities of AASKM.

Open day FTS/UPKM

On March 23, 2026, the Faculty of Technical Sciences, together with the Regional Innovation Center Zubin Potok, welcomed future students at its Open Day event.
High school seniors explored study programs, enrolment opportunities, and career paths, while also visiting laboratories and experiencing student life firsthand.
The event highlighted the importance of innovation and practical knowledge, with inspiring presentations including the Sokolus team and Erasmus+ project WBNET, focused on developing modern, skill-based study programs aligned with labor market needs.

🤝 Round table at the University of Mitrovica – Faculty of Technical Sciences (12 February 2026) brought together academia and business representatives to discuss modernization of study programs and stronger alignment with labor-market needs.

UNBI has signed 10 business cooperation agreements within the Erasmus+ WBNET project
The University of Bihać, as part of the Erasmus+ WBNET project, has entered into 10 business cooperation agreements with local companies, public institutions, and enterprises, thereby further strengthening the connection between the academic community and the economy of the Una-Sana Canton.
The signatories of the agreements include:

Alongside the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bihać, all partners are jointly working on the development of innovative short study programmes in the field of multimedia engineering and computing, thereby contributing to the modernisation of education and the strengthening of regional cooperation.
Through these activities, the University of Bihać reaffirms its commitment to linking academic knowledge with the needs of the local community and economy, as well as to actively participating in international projects that enhance the quality of education.

WBNET Project Brought the Center for Non-Cyclical Education to the University of Bihać (UNBI)
The Technical Faculty of the University of Bihać, thanks to the Erasmus+ WBNET project, has initiated the establishment of the Center for Non-Cyclical Education. Through this Center, new short study programs are being implemented, including training in the fields of digital competencies and artificial intelligence, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the WBNET project, as the Center continues to create short courses in line with the needs of education and industry. This confirms the sustainability of the project and strengthens the role of the University of Bihać in the development of digital technologies in the Western Balkans.
One of the activities of the newly established Center is the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Technical Faculty of the University of Bihać and the Public Pedagogical Institute of the Una-Sana Canton, aimed at launching a modular professional development program for teachers in the field of digital and AI competencies.
At the same time, a call for applications has been announced and will soon be published for participants of short study courses in multimedia engineering and computing, developed through the WBNET project.
