Eventually, summer will come to an end. As much as we long for cooler days and more rain, we also want to enjoy these late summer days, knowing that they are soon gone. Morning swims are among our favorites, and one thing that is particularly nice is going for a good coffee with your hair still wet, sitting in the shade and enjoying the morning breeze.


One of our absolute favorite spots by the river is FLEURI. Tucked away in the lush greenery of the Botanical Garden, this café-bar feels like a secret oasis. The best way to arrive is directly from the river: after your swim, simply walk up from the Aare into the garden, where tables are scattered among tropical plants. It is a magical transition from the cool water to the warmth of the sun-drenched terrace.


At the bar, you get good coffee and small plates, from lovely homemade cakes to hot dogs for lunch. The place is just as nice in the evening when you can enjoy a cold glass of something under the stars. They have a seasonal program ranging from Sunday brunch to concerts, dinners, and flea markets.


⏰ Hours: FLEURI is open from April to the end of October. During the peak summer months from May to September, they welcome you daily from 10:00 to 19:00. As the season winds down in April and October, opening hours are from 11:00 to 17:00.

Once you are there, we recommend taking a slow stroll through the rest of the Botanical Garden. There are plenty of shaded spots to chill and read a good book between river dips.
