Play, move, enjoy your body and have fun.

Remember each human being is talented for sports. Soccer might not be for everyone, but that’s not something that should make you worry. As a PE teacher, it is super important to offer a bunch of different activities. The goal is that each person in class discovers their passion. That everyone, no matter of body constitution or state of mind, will love to feel the thrill and joy of being active.

Regardless of my passion for balls I discovered fencing a few years ago. It was love at first sight when I joined maitre Beckmanns class as a young student at university of Basel. I discovered a completely new situation of competition, a different fight pace. The psychological challenge to get really close to the opponent. I was fascinated and dedicated to find a way to bring that cool experience into PE classes.

We tested a lot of variations to get that fencing weapon adapted to PE classes and fantasy games, to have a sports material which is light, soft and fast. It took us years, but we still love the impact our Gladiators Bats have on each person who touches them. It’s magic. Thank you maitre Beckmann, martial arts expert and all the students who helped to develop that cool tool. And thank you to make the PE book series Burner Motion happen! You rock! 🔥🔥🔥

Being a team, explore, exchange and grow - that`s what life is all about.
So happy to see the new generation of future PE teachers and coaches at DSBG University of Basel bringing their inspiration into action in the Burner Games course edition 2026!

And so happy to see Gilles Durand coming back on stage after a longer trip around the world. He finished the very same course himself in 2017 and stayed in the Burner Motion Team as an instructor, for 9 years yet. His super special game ideas brought a total new twist into the Burner Games community.

Last week we all came together and celebrated classic and new Burner Games. It’s so good to know there are so inspiring, strong and kind young people who will carry on the tradition of creative PE teaching onto the next level!

Looking forward to to each class we can share.

A huge thanks to Ayako, my Ballet and Life Teacher

Ayako was so much more than a ballet teacher for me. There are no words to describe how important she was (and still is) for me to find my way back to life.

Back in 2023 we first met in a small Ballet Studio in Pratteln. I was a sad grey shadow of myself at the time, desperately trying to recover from that stroke and fighting very difficult life conditions at the same time. I knew Ayako from her time as a soloist dancer at Theater Basel and was full of admiration for her way she used to dance. It was more than performance. She lived dance, such as I lived games. I knew when I first met her that I have found a soulmate.

My struggle with life seemed endless. I stayed in a clinic for months, Ayako did not give up on me and teached me privates at the weekend. She collected all the broken parts of my soul and helped me to set them back together. It took a lot of attempts. I went through the darkest time of my life, and for months, it seemed that I wouldn’t ever progress at all. Ayako did not give up. She stayed by my side and kept me working, day by day. „Don’t think too much“, she used to say. „Just go to class. Do the work. One day everything will fall in the right place“.

Each time I broke down, I remembered her words. I kept showing up for class. I noted her feedbacks. Practiced the small things, each day. Managed after a long time to shift my life focus a little bit. To not only chase the future, but live the moment. That was the moment I started to dance again. And to live again.

Thank you Ayako for being my friend and my teacher. I am so happy we can share a good time now and look into a bright future. Still chasing perfection each of us, but also enjoying the moment and being happy for everything we achieved. Let’s just move on and bring our visions to life.

Big hug and Love, Muriel

Let`s go to Sportforum Mals in July!

This event is so much more than just a teachers advanced training symposium. It is the most wonderful place to share friendship, exchange and enjoy the common passion and expertise for PE teaching and sports coaching. I am so deeply happy I will be able to finally join again Sportforum Mals. To cheer and hug all other Burner Fanatics. And of course to share the latest games and other Burner PE teaching adventures. Stay tuned and don’t miss. Can’t wait to drive to Italy!

Teaching means more than a lifestyle to me. In fact it is my sense of life. I struggled hard with an injured brain and soul to find strength and confidence to move into that gym and teach the fully booked Burner Games focus subject at DSBG university of Basel. It was just 90 Minutes class. Thank god. It was 90 minutes of constant stress and panic, but same time overcrowding joy and awareness that I am still able to go for it. Quite a remarkable moment after 3 years of sitting in a cave not talking to anyone. No idea how far I will be able to go, but for the moment I enjoy the vibes of this first step 🔥🔥🔥

Thank you for being there as a wonderful encouraging coach. I am dedicated to fight for more! 🔥🔥🔥

31/12/2025

We wish you by heart a wonderful 2026. May you stay healthy, live wonderful moments with people you love and who support you. If the last year looked like a struggle to you (as it does to me), try to take a last look back and choose what to take with you. Then close the door and look ahead to the future. Because that’s the way you will go. I send a big hug to all of you. May the Burner Power be with all of us!
