👩⚕️🌍 Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate the nurses who stand at the heart of patient care.
Nurses play a vital role in translating clinical evidence into daily practice, from nutritional screening and recovery support to care for older adults, critically ill patients, newborns, and people living with chronic diseases.
Recent research published in Nutrients highlights how nutrition can support patient outcomes across many care settings, including:
🥗 disease-related malnutrition and oral nutritional supplements
🏥 immunonutrition in acute geriatric care
🧬 gut microbiome and frailty in nursing home residents
💪 sarcopenia risk in cancer patients
🦴 personalized nutrition in major orthopaedic surgery
🍼 donor human milk and neonatal care
📊 prognostic tools linking nutrition, inflammation, and immunity
On this day, we thank nurses for their knowledge, compassion, and essential contribution to safer, more person-centered healthcare.
