🇨🇦 NO CANADIAN JOB OFFER? Your French skills could still open a pathway to permanent residence.

Mga Kaps, a job offer isn’t always required to pursue your Canadian dream.

Through Express Entry’s French-language category, eligible French-speaking skilled workers may receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

Who may qualify? 👇

✅ French speakers with NCLC 7 or higher
You need qualifying TEF Canada or TCF Canada results in ALL four abilities: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

✅ Applicants eligible for Express Entry
You must qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class or Federal Skilled Trades Program.

✅ Skilled workers from different professional backgrounds

Examples may include:
• Managers and supervisors
• Nurses and healthcare professionals
• Engineers and IT professionals
• Teachers and early childhood educators
• Accountants and administrative professionals
• Chefs and cooks
• Electricians, plumbers and carpenters

💡 The French category has no separate occupation list. Your work experience must meet the requirements of your underlying Express Entry program.

💡 A Canadian job offer is not mandatory under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Other eligibility requirements still apply.

Your next step? Understand where you stand—and what you need to prepare.

What happens after you register for Friday's webinar? Here's every step.

Step 1: You fill in a short form. Name, email, country, your French level and your field of work.

Step 2: On Friday, October 9 at 1:00 PM ADT, you join live. It's 60 minutes.

Step 3: You ask your own questions. It's a live Q&A, not a recording.

Step 4: Right after, you can stay for a 5-minute pre-qualifying interview in English.

Step 5: If you qualify, we discuss our service agreement. Once agreement is settled, we match and book you for an interview with our Canadian partner employers. If you qualify but you're not ready yet, we keep you on our active talent list. No obligation. You can leave at any time.

Who you'll meet: Ms. Amelia Ajoc, a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC, licence R518392), and Joey, co-founder of Kap Unity Canada. Our office is in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

You don't need perfect French to work in Canada.

Here's what the Francophone Mobility work permit asks for:

French at level 5 (CLB/NCLC 5) in speaking and listening. Reading and writing aren't tested.

A job offer from a Canadian employer outside Quebec.

A job in almost any field. Only primary agriculture jobs at TEER 4 and 5 are left out.

No LMIA. Your employer doesn't need the labour market test most foreign hires need.

And one thing people forget: English. Most employers outside Quebec work in English, so you need both languages.

Not sure where your French stands? Bring that question to Friday's live Q&A with our licensed RCIC.

We're recruiting French speakers in 6 fields right now.

1. Construction: trades, labourers and skilled workers
2. Food industry: food processing, production and kitchen roles
3. Hospitality: hotel, tourism and food service
4. Health care: caregivers, nurses and allied health workers
5. IT: developers, technicians and tech specialists
6. Teaching: educators and teaching professionals

Some roles need a Canadian licence.

Do you work in one of these fields, and speak French and English? Then the Francophone Mobility work permit may fit you.

The permit needs a job offer from an employer outside Quebec. For most people applying from abroad, that's the hard part. On Friday we'll show you how it works and what to prepare.

After the free webinar, stay for a 5-minute pre-qualifying interview. If you qualify, we book you for an interview with our Canadian partner employers.

You get 60 days after an invitation. Some documents take longer than that.

When IRCC invites you to apply for permanent residence, you have 60 days to send a complete application. Not a profile. The full application, with proof.

Here is what often slows people down:

Police certificates. You may need one from every country where you lived for 6 months or more in a row since age 18. Some countries take weeks to send them.

Reference letters. Each past employer must describe your duties, hours and pay. Old employers can be slow to reply, or hard to find.

Proof of funds. Unless you are exempt, you need official bank letters that show your money over time, not only today's balance.

Medical exam. It must be done by a doctor on IRCC's approved list.

If your application is incomplete, it can be refused. Then you go back to the pool and wait for a new invitation.

Kap, a list like this is general. Your file is not. Which documents apply to you, and which ones you should start today, depends on your work history, the countries you lived in, and your program. A call with our licensed consultant goes through it for your own case. If you start now, you have time to fix problems. If you start after the invitation, you may not.

If you join the IMR Program, the same 30-minute session is included.

Today, we wear orange.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never came home.

Many of you are working toward the day you become Canadian. Since 2021, the Oath of Citizenship says every new citizen will observe the laws of Canada, "including the Constitution, which recognizes and affirms the Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples."

So learning this history is part of becoming Canadian. Here in Nova Scotia, we live and work in Mi'kma'ki, the home of the Mi'kmaq people for thousands of years.

Our office is closed today. Wear orange, learn one true story, and listen.

Every Child Matters.
