🚨 Canada Tightens Asylum Rules – Key Change You Must Know (Bill C-12) 🇨🇦

On March 26, 2026, the Government of Canada passed Bill C-12, bringing major changes to asylum eligibility and immigration processing.

📌 IMPORTANT UPDATE (Effective for claims on or after June 3, 2025):
If you entered Canada after June 24, 2020 and wait more than 1 year to claim asylum, your case will NOT be referred to the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) — even if you left and re-entered Canada.

⚠️ This is a major shift. Delays can now completely block access to the refugee system.

• Timing is now critical
• Late claims may be refused without a hearing
• You may only have limited options like PRRA
