Feeling proud to announce that we have been voted the best movers in Clarington, and have won first place (Diamond) in the readers choice awards. I would like to personally thank all who voted, and for everyone's continued support over the years. I would also like to take the time to apologize to those who we were unable to accommodate, and those I was not able to get back to. Especially during these hard times things can be overwhelming for me, and it can be hard to keep up. When you hire "Manny The Mover", you get me in person for the entire process. I handle every phone call/email/text/and estimate personally. Come moving day, I am there in person as your driver, crew lead, and head mover. That's right...every client has the owner of the company on site as their head mover. Although this requires a great demand for my time, it has allowed me to maintain our great quality of service since 2009. I would also like to take the time to mention Tyson Vollering as he has been my main helping hand for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, as well as Justin Bedding for all his help throughout past seasons, and everyone else who has put in the time to help me out. As this post suggests, I run a very small crew that I trust to get the job done properly with me. It takes some pretty hard working people to keep up with me, and to help maintain my reputation. Here's to a successful 2020 season, and to many more years to come. Hoping everyone is doing well and staying safe during these hard times.

Many people will spread the word that hiring movers is too expensive. Today we moved an entire 2 bedroom condo from Newcastle to Newtonville. The move took just 3 hours exactly. What did the total costs come to? Unlike some companies we don't try to force a 3rd mover when a 3rd mover is not required. We do not charge 'travel time" or "fuel charges" for local moves. The total came to just 375 plus hst. Oh wait...the entire month of May is our 10 year anniversary sale with an additional 10% off. Our client paid just 337.50 plus hst for their entire move. Why pay additional fees when you don't have to?

We're about half way through the month of May, and many clients are enjoying the savings of our 10 year anniversary sale! As mentioned in our anniversary post, we are offering ALL services at 10% off for the entire month of May.

We often have clients that ask about additional, or hidden costs. Although May is almost over our rates always remain competitive, and are always all inclusive. We never have additional charges for fuel, km, insurance, etc. We even offer free "travel time" to all our local clients. This means that charges never begin until we arrive at your starting location, and end as soon as the truck is unloaded at your new home. Free travel time is offered to most clients moving within the Durhan Region. Driving time to areas out of town are charged under our standard hourly rate. Examples of our charges are as fallows.

2 movers and a fully equipped 27ft moving truck - $125 per hour

3 movers and a fully equipped 27ft moving truck - $155 per hour

Contact us for larger moves that require more than one truck.

There is currently a 3 hour minimum on moves.

An example of total costs for a small moves that can be completed in just a few hours. $125 per hour for 3 hours - $375, travel time - $0, fuel charge - $0, added fees - $0. Grand total stays at $375 plus hst for all local clients completed within 3 hours. And remember, all clients are taking advantage of an additional 10% off for the entire month of May!

Good day everyone! Next month is the month of May. What does that have to do with moving? Well...years ago during May of 2009, a young 23-year-old decided to start a venture that seemed too big for him. Having moved several times during his childhood, he had been regularly tasked with the responsibility of moving the family’s belongings, and over the years his family went through several moves. His mother would recruit his help with all moving tasks whether it was rearranging the furniture - which often included pushing around the family's upright piano, or carrying a replacement washer and dryer out of an auction hall, and then lifting them into his grandfather's pick-up truck. Needless to say he was one strong kid, and once carried a large bookshelf for a distance of 5km on foot, because it wouldn’t fit into his mother’s vehicle during a family move. Moving things around became a part of his life.

When he got older, he worked in everything from a pet store to a warehouse, and always had 2 full time jobs. During May of 2009, he began his life as an entrepreneur, and registered the business name "Manny The Mover". Starting with nothing, he bought some moving blankets, some yard signs, and rented trucks as he got his first clients. Being only 23, many people didn't take him seriously and getting clients was extremely difficult. He actually had to tell clients that he had to make sure he could rent a truck for their moving date before firming anything up. Not exactly what you’d expect to hear when searching for a moving company. Regardless, he stayed confident, and people started to see his dedication and natural strength. After saving up, he eventually bought an 18ft trailer for small moves that he pulled with a large SUV. Although rental trucks were still needed for larger moves, smaller moves could now be booked with confidence! However, many people still didn't take him seriously with such a small set up.

Over the next couple years he never gave up, and as work slowly picked up, he was able to save enough to make another upgrade to a large 28ft moving trailer, and a pick up truck big enough to pull it. At 28ft long there was lots of room for client’s belongings, the company name was proudly displayed on all sides of the trailer, and people started to recognize the name as new clients and referrals started to pour in. After another couple years, he was able to purchase his first professional moving truck, and the truck and trailer were sold.

Over the course of 10 years and a couple thousand moves, what started with a young man renting a cube van, has grown into a full-service moving company with 3 fully equipped professional moving trucks, and one of the best reputations in the Durham region. I would like to take the time to personally thank each and every one of our clients, friends, family members, and every other person who has offered continuous support. You have all allowed the business to grow over the years, and become what it is today. Looking back, it has been an amazing adventure!

To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we are offering ALL services provided during the month of May at 10% off our already competitive rates! We are also offering free travel time and no fuel charges to all local clients! This means charges don't begin until we arrive at your starting location, and end as soon as the truck is unloaded at your new home.

Standard rates for the entire month of May…

2 movers and one fully equipped truck $125 per hour – 10% = $112.50
3 movers and one fully equipped truck $155 per hour – 10% = $139.50

A 3 hour minimum applies to all moves, and all rates are subject to hst. Most small moves that only require a few hours to complete can be done for just $337.50 +hst!

How does Manny The Mover relax on a Friday night? Why, ensuring that the trucks are ready for this years winter season of course. What an amazing gift to end a long December full of holidays with such warm weather. Time for new batteries all around, and to inspect each truck thoroughly. Just finished putting new batteries, and a new air tank on our Clarington truck. Of course I had the help of some romantic lighting provided by my dear old pick up truck. Happy Friday everyone!
