I am happy to announce that Free Bird Falconry is officially a certified Living Wage employer!

Here's a first for our directory: Free Bird Falconry is now a certified employer in Oxford County! Owner/Licensed Falconer Julia Staines, seen here with Jeremy the peregrine falcon, on why she pursued certification:

"I decided to become a living wage employer because I have personally had to work multiple jobs in the past in order to make ends meet. I know what it’s like to struggle and I don’t want my employees to go through that. It’s important to me that they are able to enjoy their lives!"

We were able to give something back to the birds today! We banded these three young American Kestrels this afternoon. The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America, and sadly, they are on the decline! Banding them will help scientists track their movements and hopefully figure out the reason(s) for the decline. There were 2 females and one male in this clutch.
